If Port claim he was unconscious for a full 45 seconds then I assume he was unconscious right when he dropped the ball. He had both arms free but didn't try to brace - he passed out before Nyhuis started the tackle.

But ok, Nyhuis tackled like a man and copped his penalty like a man. Pity he won't be around for the Derby but good on him.

You guys haven’t read the regulations bit about “star power” deduction (Section 5.3 (a) subclause (iii))
“The penalty will be reduced in proportion with the perceived importance of the player to the marketing of the AFL.” Often referred to as the Judd Law following his non penalty for opening up Pav’s face with his elbow when Judd was a Brownlow favourite. (Not to be confused with Jude Law)

Buddy can get up to 85% deduction for any incident, regardless of injury caused.

When you go to the tribunal, both sides make a statement on what they think the penalty should be. Three is the minimum for the charge he accepted

Shane, Walters got a week for something other players (most recent May, GC) get fines or let off for. There have been a plethora of tackles similar to Nyhuis's , and rarely does anyone get more than a fine. Go through the MRP/Tribunal decisions, and judge their consistency. We are not the only ones copping it, but we seem to cop more than anyone else. OK it may not be a conspiracy, but it sure ain't fair and equitable.

I think this sends a strong message out to all other sides, that when they face Freo expect to be tackled hard and if you try to do a Gray act, then expect to be concussed.

Sucking up to the MRP and tribunal will not work for Freo. When has a Freo player (even Fyfe) ever got any leniency? Some of the media bloviating on this tackle has be disgracefully biased. How dare Gray be tackled with vigour. Think of this - what if Gray had applied this tackle to Nyhuis. Media response - nothing to see move on.
