TOPIC: Apeness vs Darcy

Jezza Apeness vs Darcy 5 years 10 months ago #85

Tim Kelly wants out. Darcy has currency and calls Geelong home. Cats need a ruckman. Roly’s got no game plan that Darcy likes. He’s not likely to play while Sandi is around. Just putting the cards on the table. And if our 2020 vision has no clarity, why would kids like Darcy and Cerra stay. Yeah I know I’m off topic but that’s my 2 bobs worth.

I don't know about the topic but I suspect you're off your trolley.

There would be a multitude of factors, unique to each individual, which would be factors in their decision making. If they leave, it doesn't mean that Ross Lyon is a dud coach. If they stay it doesn't mean they share your view that he's the greatest living human being.

Do the players even know about this 2020 premiership of yours?

$$ and family will come ahead of the genius that is Ross Lyon. Most will stay for the former if it's a factor.

Football's a bit like that.

A bit like the way they do it down at a certain other Fremantle club RM?

I’d bet that Sandi calls it a day at the end of 2018 and Apeness, Darcy and Jones compete to win a spot in 2019 for the ruck

I wouldn’t use Tabs (200cm) as a ruck unless we need to. Fit and well, he will be a great CHF for us with Cox (193) and Cam Mac (192cm?) in support.

I've got a counter bet.

I reckon he'll play on with reduced flying time, spending more away games at home.

In an ideal world regarding injuries, that means Freo can play Tabs and Cox as twin talls with either backing up Hodor in the ruck when needed. A couple of smalls operating with those two talls with CamMac playing the CHF role, roaming more and offering a third man close in.. frees him up to play his favoured support role as opposed to being expected to hold down a key forward spot.

That gets game time into Hodor who is still low on games and developing without burning him out. It allows the other talls support as they develop. It frees up crumber types to inflict crumber type damage. It allows the backline consistency and stability.

I predict he'll play on but halfway through the season he'll quit and go on tour playing the sitar with a reformed REM.

I've got $10k here, what odds will you give me, yeti?

I think that's a good bet, Smiley. What does Aaron Sandilands do on the field?

Does he jump? Not really.
Does he make repetitive leads inside 50? No.
Does he push up to the opposition 50 m line at kick outs and sprint to goal? No.

He stands there at a stoppage and taps the ball to Fyfe and he sits in the goal square and puts his arms up.

I am not criticising him, he's quite effective. I am saying he could play till he's 40.

25/1 Shane.

Shane, odds were 100:1 earlier in the day but have gone out to 150:1 after your plunge.

To be honest, I don't think his sitar playing is good enough at this stage. He's got 12 months to tighten it up.
