The AFL is looking more likely to introduce players starting in set positions at stoppages next year.
Tall forwards will all be the rage again and having 2 dominating ruckman to win stoppages will be a must.
Lets play em all.

I agree Yeti midfielders are a dime a dozen and can be traded in or picked up later in the draft more easily, particularly if they are just going to be moulded to Lyons game plan.

As I’ve said before our list is actually in pretty good shape. Especially now we have a couple of big blokes developing and becoming available. Those that like to defend our coach say our list is the problem. I don’t agree with that and reckon we have the cattle to be highly competitive every week. As long as we allow blokes to play to their strengths and instinctively we will be fine. It might be wishful thinking but I think Roly might just be starting to realise if he just gives our blokes a chance to show what they can do the results will come.

Connor Blakely spoke about the plan to go to one on one rather than going laterally all the time and getting into trouble. This is great to hear! For this to work it relies on players running forward in numbers and leading at the footy. Having enough blokes running to the right spots when we don’t have the ball so we can pounce when we force a turnover.

I'm in Belgium at the moment and I find a lot in common with them and Jezza-I can't understand what either are going on about.

KK, that is why some of us have been calling for the coaches head for a while now. We do have a very talented footy list. However, they are playing a version of rugby, and are not very talented at that. Do we change the entire list, with the exception of a few elite runners and a fister or 2, or do we change the way we play the game?

There is no sane reason why you would play Darcy in the seconds once he is fit. If there is no room on the ground change him off the bench. The way our injuries are going he will get plenty of game time most weeks. There will be the game where we can only go in with 1 ruckman, so give Sandi a rest those weeks and prolong his career.

i) never trade Hodor, he’s a gem
ii) I was a firm believer in the fact that Hodor and Sandi could play in the same team and feel vindicated by the fact we look good with Apeness (playing the second ruck/forward.
iii) effort and form cannot be overlooked, so Apeness should keep his spot in the team (for now at least)
iv) solution, play Hodor as the leading Ruck for our remaining 3 away games (bonus is one in melb and one in Geelong so he gets to catch up with family). If in the highly unlikely event we do make the finals Sandi should be cherry ripe if he hasn’t had to travel for the last 2 1/2 months.
v) if Apeness breaks himself or his form drops off Hodor gets the F/R role.
vi) Cox and Tabs battle it out for the power marking forward role.

My neck hurts from shaking my head in response to some of this. I really wonder about some people.
Freo has won the last two games. - just beat a severely under strength Adelaide ( who just got walloped by Hawthorn) and then Carlton who were a rabble but still won the second half.
Apeness has a poor record of getting on the park, Tabs is still out injured, Darcy is just coming back, Sandi is approaching 80 years old but suddenly we have a surplus of talls ready to take Freo to a premiership. Three or four weeks ago we had nothing but hope. Give me a break. Get as many games into them as possible, see who stands up and who doesn’t over a decent period of games and then make a call.

Trade nobody over 6’4

Have i missed something? 2 games ago Apeness was dodgy and was struggling at peel.

I missed the Carlton game but watching against Adelaide, he still seemed a fair bit off the pace for AFL.

Maybe let’s wait until we go up against a side with a decent defender before proclaiming him the answer

He did play better against Carlton, but then again we snuck a couple of witches hats out in the second quarter and they got a few kicks.

He does have to do a bit more to prove himself, but he looks like he has the goods. A couple of weeks ago we were looking for top 2 draft picks to get a tall forward, but the season plan has now switched to finals, so Apeness & co have to perform.

Last year Hodor stood up when it counted and delivered. Should’ve got a RS nom. Very skilled young talent and contracted to Freo till 2020. Here’s the dilemma. Cerra is a Simon Black, once in a generation type player, who hasn’t signed beyond his 2 year rookie contract. The vultures are circling. The go home factor is massive. If Roly is a shite coach and his coaching panel are rubbish, those boys will leave, like many have in Brisbane. So DL, your move.

What if he loves something even more than he loves the coaching panel. Nah, that's not possible.

Sorry, Cerra family.

Jezza, you're not in a position to tell anyone it's 'your move'.

You're so busy dodging the bullets of truth, reason and logic that there's no room for anyone else to make a move.

You're all over the shop. You've lost yourself...
