We're in junk time now. Actually that started a minute into the 2nd half.

70 points up at half time and win by 57.
Step on the throat? Typical.

So coming into that just after 1/2 time knowing the score and looking forward to an entertaining display of Freo dominance, I find myself treated to a concerted effort from the commentators to shore up the coaching style of Ross Lyon in defiance of the performance in front of them.

Yeah. Who could have predicted a team coming off 9 extra days break running out the game stonger?

The team knew they’d run out of legs much earlier than Carlton, hence the need for a strong start. I’m enjoying this win and the team is looking fantastic at the moment. Credit where it’s due.

It is the game plan, not the six day v 11 day break that causes us to run out of legs early. Players were too stuffed to have a shot by half time. Change something, or our percentage will stay in the 70'.

Carlton had a 15 day break. That’s a considerable difference.

I'm not worried about the potential relative fatigue coming into the game... I'm not making the point very well perhaps but coming in fresh like that, I was struck by the tone of excuse making in the commentary when allowing some of the younger blokes to play and supporting them with something of a forward structure instead of that lockdown behind the ball style, it's all about injuries etc.

They put Brayshaw and Giro in there at the end.

Raglan, I dare say we played the most attacking football of any team for a long time. We didn't even bother outnumbering them in the backline.

We banked on winning the ball and rolling the dice with forward run.

It came a little unstuck as Neale, Mundy and Fyfe weren't in the mid field at the end. But that will change. Loved the footy today.

Wondering if Brayshaw did enough for a RS mom. 20 touch’s and a goal, and ran hard.

Agree with that Hypen. It worked because we could put enough pressure on a pretty ordinary team. The test, for me, will be what do we do when we play better teams. Stick to the plan I hope. We may lose a few but I reckon this is the way we should develop the young guys, our time will come.

Hypen, after half time we went back to a deserted (most of the time) forward line to stop Carlton scoring, it did not work as well as stacking our forward line did in the first half, and wore our players down. When will the Freo coaching staff work out that the best way to stop opponents scoring, is to kick goals yourself. For the full 4 quarters. While it was a good win, our second half was too reminiscent of 2015 for my liking.

This was sheer dominance by a great coached side. Don’t underestimate this win by 57 pts. We’re cooked at 3/4 time. I saw first hand when our boys had hands on knees. Great effort. Off a six day break and travelling. That’s the hardest assignment in footy. Wonderful work by our boys. The plan is coming together.
