AARRGHH!

Come on Morgan. Are you serious? Like everyone else here I did had an opinion at draft time and said it. I was hoping for Stephenson and Uniake-Davies and I'm more than happy to say that one has struggled to get a game and the other at this stage would probably be favourite for the rising star.

I also said we badly needed a key forward and Brandner was the pick of the bunch. Forget the number and draft what you need. So any of those three would have been my choices.

I thought, obviously wrongly judging by the amount of flak I'm copping that we needed midfield/half forward pace and think we got that in Cerra even though he's never played in the forward line before he came here. I thought we also needed a big bodied midfielder to take over from Mundy. And it goes without saying that we needed a key forward.

I don't get it. Just because a couple of us would have drafted someone else first what's the big frickin' deal.? it's all hypothetical anyway.

We are allowed to disagree with each other here without having to justify it countless times. You of all people should know that Morgan.

We took those ruckmen with picks in the 70s. That's exactly where you should have a ping at giant blokes, because who knows at 18 what they'll be like when the are 25?

Definitely agree that's a good place to take them, but if you decide Apeness is now a ruckman it's irrelevant. You don't need five ruckmen, six if you ruck Strnadica as we often have. Any other team have that many?

Would have preferred to use picks in more needed areas.

CA, of course you can disagree. I would have taken LDU and Bender too at the time (I think it said that at some point), but I don't know anything about drafting. I think people are well within their rights to say the club took the wrong guys if that's what they think.

Saying Brayshaw is a bad pick and saying he's not a good player aren't the same thing, but they're not that far apart either. I just reckon if you're going to throw even indirect shade at a draft recruit it might be polite to wait until they've turned 19 and played more than a handful of games.

"Saying Brayshaw is a bad pick and saying he's not a good player aren't the same thing"

For the umpteenth time...I NEVER SAID THAT, I just wouldn't have used pick 2 for him. If we had enough picks i would have been happy to get him later. I've tried to explain endless times why and who I would have chosen instead but if you're not happy with it, fine.

The amount of times you've been contrary or disagreed with the majority of people here would more than likely be a lot more than me so not sure why you can't agree to disagree.

You even made me type in capitals and i may be forced to dis your beer reviews...........................................................well not really as I enjoy them.

For those who are impatient, WCs Darling debuted in 2011 and has now played 160 games and this is the first season hes been really good without umpire assistance.

Moose 30 games
Cerra 8 games
Brayshaw 9 games
Banfield 9 games
Cox 13 games
CamMac 49 games
Blakely 42 games
Tucker 38 games
Langdon33 games
Logue 13 games
Ryan 20 games
Tabs 58 games
Wilson 98 games
Nyhuis 6 games
Darcy 8 games
Duman 4 games
Kirsten 58 games

The only reason the WC are doing well is because Kneebone Mitchell is coaching the mids.

With all those youngs guys above, if we had two decent big forward we’d be kicking Rss.

Well, at the start of this season we had Tabs showing some real form. Losing him to injury is bad luck.

We've also got Cox showing promise as a marking option who can kick and ruck a bit.

We've got tall options. We've got the makings of a forward line.

We don't look like a team that knows how to use one or adapt to losing one part of it.

Be creative Roly....try playing Fyfe at CHF, swing Blakely back onto the ball, play one of the young rucks interchanging with Sandi out of a forward pocket.

The only reason the WC go fast from the guts into the forward line is because Kennedy and Darling are marking targets. We must be leading the AfL for intercept marks taken in our forward line.

If you are going to lose games experiment a bit.

The problem is that they move Fyfe to centre half forward but don't set anything else up structure wise to get the best out of it. It's Lord of the Flies down there.

Lions beat Hawks.....
"The view might be if you play all those big guys in the forward line you might not be able to put pressure on … but it straightens you up a bit and everyone know where the ball's going," Chris Fagan said.

Give it a try Roly, its not rocket surgery.

If Tabs was fit we might be looking at a completely different picture...

and as far as experimenting goes Noddy, I'd like to see Tabs and Cox close to goals and CamMac roaming further up the ground. That should scare a few defenses silly. Walters and Balls crumbing off that would be embiggening.

I'd like to know where our manic forward pressure has gone? Saturday's game was just not Freo and this article from 9 things we learnt from round 9 says it all....

"8. Poor finishing isn't the biggest issue with Freo's forward line
Failing to convert their early opportunities hurt the Dockers against Sydney, but it was their non-existent pressure inside 50 that was most alarming. Swans defenders Jake Lloyd, Jarrad McVeigh and Dane Rampe shared 29 possessions in the first term, with 22 of those uncontested, and also had seven rebound 50s between them. By the end of the night Lloyd had racked up 35 uncontested disposals and McVeigh chimed in with 26. This, while Fremantle small forwards Hayden Ballantyne (zero tackles), Adam Cerra (one), Mitch Crowden (two), Brandon Matera (two) and Michael Walters (two) basically allowed the home side's two best rebounders to waltz around the SCG like they were on a training run. You could argue that coach Ross Lyon should have sent his stopper Bailey Banfield to Lloyd or McVeigh from the opening bounce, but when his forwards are turning up with that sort of attitude to team defence, it's a lost cause no matter what the coach does. - Adam Curley"

Lloyd had 41 disposals, 35 of them uncontested. That must be some sort of record count for a backman?

Interestingly we actually had 19 more tackles on the night, but obviously not many in the forward line, and probably because we chasing them and they had possession a lot more than us.
Tucker easily led the way with 9, Mundy and Banfield 6 and then a few with 4. Ballas was the only player not to register a tackle which seems unusual for him.

It's worth a shot Guy, but how many slow blokes can you carry in a forward line? Perhaps Taberner and Cox have laid a tackle in their life and I just missed it, but I reckon the other side would walk the ball out of defence. You can live with a forward who is a sieve for forward pressure if they can take mark or hit the scoreboard - we did with Pav for years - but I'm not sure you can have two, especially if they are not really that good.

But yeah, given our personnel, it still might be the least bad option.
