Round 9 and we're talking draft picks? That's pathetic, we're Freo not the Deaf Cheats.

Most if not all our tall forwards are slow by tall forwards standard.
We seem to have an obsession with lumbering slugs.

We are so desperate for goal kickers, I think every single pick we have in the next draft should be known for kicking goals. Im happy for them to pick 6 forwards. It should never have got to this point, our obsession with midlfielders and players of the same type is killing us. I think we need new staff in the recruitment department, it has been identified as an issues for at least 5 years if not more. Rather than developing our own through the draft we’ve seem to be of the opinion we’ll throw big money at free agents and land a quick fix, its never happened. A young key forward would be hitting their straps by now. Eagles even seem to be trying to recruit for a Kennedy replacement and he’s still go a couple of years to go.
Eveyone seems to blame the coach I think it’s recruitment where we should point the blame. We will miss the finals even if we win enough games due to our poor percentage and lack of goals.

On a slightly positive note we do ok in the entries into 50. Increasing the conversion rate from about zero to something could work wonders.

More seriously, we do need a couple of solid forwards. The team generally needs a couple of years development but looks like it could work with some physical development, better skills, and everyone bring on the same page. This will come with time but we still need some power up forward.

I blame the coach, Freo o sonearo. McCarthy plays like someone didn't show up so they gave him a game because he had his boots in the car. He doesn't look like a Fremantle coach has spoken to him in two years and told him what he's supposed to be doing. The whole forward line is like that. Other than Michael Walters, the team has no idea how to get the ball through the goals or that it's even important that they do so.

There’s nothing unpredictable about where we’re at. Our losses have been to top 4 sides away from home except GWS, who should now be looking at a new coach. Cause dare I say it, he’s game plan is not what DL would rate. And their got some god given talent in their side. With 13 games to go, we’re still a chance. I’ll also point out the side we fielded last night, is an inexperienced one and will continue to be until they amass 50+ games individually. 7 with less than 10 games and 14 less than 50. That’s the facts.

With all due respect Jezza, you predict a win pretty much every week, so for you at least it would seem that where we're at is unpredictable.

Ross Lyon has a great history of blooding young players and getting them all to 50 games should only take about 5 years...

You keep talking youth every week Jezza. Explain why none of the experienced players can perform either, and forward entries are like kicking the ball into a rubber wall.

The youth will struggle to run out a season, they will need resting if we've got no injuries, but to ignore all the structural problems that seem to actually be the crux of it - and focus on kids, isn't optimistic, it's sticking your head in the sand, and saying things will be better when the tide comes in.

It’s not about sticking head in sand, I predicted in an earlier post that we’d lose Sydney by a significant amount and stated that the difference would be in the experience of the 2 sides plus playing at the SCG. The alternative is to not get games into the kids. Because of the kids, we’re not a strong contested footy side. We’re not developed to a stage where we can play Sydney type football. Don’t kid yourselves about the Roos and the Slime being a surprise packet this year. They don’t play 4 new rookies at any one time plus too many second year players. Our list, since Rd1 have had the scales tipped in favour of inexperience. And of course the need of power forwards. Darling and JK (Slime), Waite and Brown (Roos) gives them a potent marking target. We’ve got Cammac and TABs( injured). Tell me what the short term solution is and I’ll go away and won’t bother you.

Yes it is a funny old game Hami. Why is it that we can't or when do you reckon we could cause an upset and beat a decent side well above us on the ladder?

We ARE winning the contests in the middle of the ground. We ARE losing the contests in our forward line, because we don't have one. We have 12 midfielders and 6 defenders. It is a soccer or hockey game plan, not a footy game plan. Get any sort of half decent coach and those young fellas would look the goods every week. Because they would be allowed to ease into the game from a forward flank/pocket. Not have to spend 12 weeks sprinting from 1 end of the ground to the other, leaving themselves open to being crunched by opponents sitting, waiting for them.

Every one is saying the big fellas we have at Peel are not showing enough. Darcy hadn't shown a lot last year before he got his chance, but he took it. At least try North, Strdinca and co.

We will have a good indication of that next week vs the Roos, who currently sit at 6th. I’m surprised to see our odds are better for the game than the Roos’ at this stage.
