I’m still confused as to how this is Freo’s fault. If CUB ends sponsorship with the WAFC, as you stated Kenny12, shouldn’t the WAFC and in conjunction with the two teams, sort to find another. Or is it Freo’s responsibility to get the sponsorship. An extract “There will be no derby trophy awarded after the game on Sunday as this is the first year of a new CUB sponsorship with football across the state. This has been a joint decision by both AFL clubs,” Rosich said.
“That sponsorship does not include the trophy being part of the ongoing sponsorship of both WA AFL clubs.
“There will also be no player medal awarded to the best player on the ground from both teams after the game, which has historically been the Ross Glendinning Medal.”
So Why has the spotlight turned onto Freo. Or has Rosich rejected Eagles idea of a new sponsor, namely KFC. Clearly both parties have to be involved in this sponsorship deal and the naming of the medal. It’s a new era with the stadium. Both clubs should joint forces and create a new tradition and if a medal is needed, find an identity that has a connection with this new era.
