Sounds like a done deal to me. West Coast ran to Dad, and being only a younger step-son it looks like Freo had to apologise despite being in the right.

Port Adelaide and the Crows managed to buy back their licences from the SAFC. It’s moments like this I wish we would get out from under the WAFC/WCE thumb.

What has Rosich done wrong Shane? Hes done something ( the club? )which Western Australians should do to the Vics! Refuse to recognize they old stale myths. Its 2018 and a national game.

Hate to say I told you so but I did.

They were never going to drop Glendinning too much of a backdown for Nisbett. But he is only a puppet fior Mc Henry, Gooding and Hamilton who have run footy in WA for tge last 30 years. The only compromise freo had was to put inaugural captain with inaugural captain. Alcock and Rosich did tge best they could against a very powerful cabal.

They should change the name of the Brownlow. It’s a Victorian award named after the bloke who cut up the oranges for the umpires in Geelong.

The WAFC/ Eagles stuffed up by joining the VFL instead of waiting for them to go broke and then forming a truly national competition. Which means we’re stuck with the Brownlow and the GF at the MCG until 2124.

But we’re not stuck with the Rosco, and now the WAFC is shoving it down our throats, but now we get to add our own 40 gamer to it.

It’s a capitulation to our shareholders who are all ex-Eagles. If it mattered any more than as a minor irritation it would be a bloody outrage.

Compromise is part of any negotiation. This result is no different. Ask for more than you expect and settle on an improved outcome.

You can be uncompromising but you won't get very far. Any world leader will tell you that. Well Saddam Hussein can't but that's because he was uncompromising.

Opening ambit: no medal awarded
Compromise: award medal with new conditions next time.

We ended up in this mess at the start because Glendinning was on our staff for 10 minutes when the Eagles and CUB brought it up and it would have been awkward to say no with him hanging about in the lunchroom.

Now the WAFC has come up with a ‘compromise’ involving a current Freo Board member, which is the same thing except the biscuits are better - but we still won’t say no.

Both times we’ll accept it because heaven forbid insisting on a name that might have some bloody sense of history or gravity might upset some lessor-light you might have to bump into socially.

And of all the times to capitulate to the Eagles - Derby week.

Geez a bit harsh on Ben Allan.

He came over due to his connection to Neesham and played until his knees gave out. In our hour of need when Drum was booted he took on a lame duck team to save us from total and utter humiliation. This made him our first player to become our coach. He is now on the Board. We have a history of 24 years, it isn't long or particularly illustrious but Ben Allan was and is a great servant to our club and deserves better than he is getting here. Sure we could have Pav on the medal, I would hope we have something more special in store for our greatest ever player. Ben complements Glendinning well and gives the medal a bit of our history in it not just theirs. Treat him with some respect.

Fair enough Q. I’m being histrionically glib about Allen and he deserves better. He’s made a strong contribution to Freo and will always have a place in its history.

I just don’t personally think that place should be on this particular medal, and I reckon it’s a cleverly played hand by West Coast to legitimise their own choice for the medal name.

SA medal originally called West End medal but changed to Showdown medal with change of sponsor
Qclash medal named after Marcus Ashcroft played over 300 games Brissy but on staff at Suns but also 1st qlder to play 300
Sydney Derby named after Brett Kirk most deserving but what connection to GWS

I think handing out a derby medal is a great finish to the day. But I loathe the fact that it's names after a predominantly eagles figure.

How about this solution?
2 teams
2 games a year, 1 home game each
Hand out the Derby medal each time.

For an Eagles home game let them organise it, the selection panel, and let them call it whatever they like.

Likewise for a Freo home game, let us organise it and call it whatever we like.
I vote the Kickett medal and we give it to whoever hits an eagle the hardest
