I was there today. Wind was a beast. No way should Taberner be blamed apart from errant give to them for a goal. I did see some appalling options taken by us. They kicked yo advantage a whole lot better. Their mids killed us in 2nd and 3rd. Mundy and Sandi tried to keep and drag us back in. They were just better. Amusingly, gws people seemed mostly to be out for a quiet day at the footy. Polite clapping at goal time...a couple of "yays" at the end. And the umps were awful...did they look awful on tv?

The problem is still that there's not forward line structure. We can get the ball, move it reasonably well down the ground and then it's either boot it and hope someone does something or stop and wait until the umpire calls play on.

And to see deboer look strong and useful alongside Tommy...made me sigh very loudly. Johnno was shaky...and to see him marking Toby Greene was just not on. That is an indictment on our selection and game day coaching.

Once again people keep talking about forward line structure. Give it up. We lost because our defensive effort was poor. Only laid 4 tackles inside our forward 50. Cammac had a poor game and Tabener got whacked against top liners in Haynes et al. They’re an experienced defence against a young forward line. We had 4 players in Cerra etc who’ve learned a great deal today. That’s a bonus.

Better team and adjusted to wind better. Structure or not when the ball is kicked to wrong spots...make forwards look awful. But yes...what is the instruction on a day like this? We will never know what the coaches were asking...there must have been something...?

Not sure there is good friendship care in the team. Good successful sides enjoy giving goals to team mates. They take great pride if one of their team mates scores a goal gifted by another player.
Not lachie Neal , both this week and last week he had a free player on their own in the goal square. His non pass to ballas in the last qtr when we were pushing was particularly disappointing. If we had scored it would of been 7 points only , but they went up the other end to make it 19.
Ballas gave a short remonstrations with lachie explaining it was his right.

It's interesting: our forward structure has looked ok when we've won - despite Taberner being our best tall forward and our best small forward being [insert least bad of Ballas and Matera on the day here]. And yet in our losses our forward structure has looked pretty bad.

I don't know why Ross doesn't just play the winning version every week?
