Let's not get too carried away with how anyone deals with trained mop heads masquerading as reporters on tv, that's incidental.
Noddy, yeah... getting there is an achievement but it's not the sort of thing you'd look at on a CV at an interview to inspire you with confidence.. 'oh looky here, this blokes made it to 16 Grand Finals. Oh.. but he hasn't won one...' I 'm exaggerating of course but when you've experienced the heady terror of being sideways in a P76 you feel you can a liberty or two. It's flagged as something of an argument sealer here too much. RoLy's got his teams to 4 but he hasn't won one yet and if he doesn't he's a bridesmaid to history.
there may well be a few laps left in the warhorse BUT successive years of spin and an apparent disdain for the supporters, as opposed to media, leaves a lot of room for scepticsm and that's where we're at here. Some of us see the upside and hold faith... fair enough. Some of us have seen a little too much spin and disappointment and that is spilling over enough to antagonise others. Get some wins on the board and everyone will relax a bit and enjoy.
As for the coming weeks, the word out of the team itself pre season was using 4 homes games from the first 6 as a springboard for the season. That's their aim. I'd expect 3-4 wins minimum then, and healthy percentage.
We should know by now that percentage matters when you're crossing the country every week. That's an area of concern. RoLy needs to get his teams scoring more. He's admitted that... for a few years, now.
Anyway... as for trading him out as per the hypothetical raised in the OP... I dunno. I reckon getting to know who's coaching well in lower grades or as assistants would be a good move right now. The next coaching success will need to innovate... how many of the current crop are doing that?
