Here’s the thing: like a lot of people I’m pretty lazy when it comes to administration in my personal life. I don’t know why the club didn’t just include the GC17 game as part of our membership at a discounted rate (say, half price), with a $5 per family donation to Starlight included, but provided with an easily accessible opt-out option for those not inclined to go or donate.
If this game was already included in my payment plan and my mates were automatically going I’d go along without giving it too much thought. Instead, I have to turn my mind to whether I can be bothered going to see the game, check with my friends to see if anyone is going, organise for my wife to look after the little tacker and buy tickets.
I’ll probably put all that off until later in the week, and at that point I’ll probably forget, I’ll file it in the too hard basket, and watch the game on TV; which sucks for the Starlight Foundation, sucks for the team playing in front of a half-empty stadium, and sucks for the club who will probably lose money.
