I hope Roly realises what a dick he was to not select Hamling last week

I thought there was an issue with players not being able to hear each other when going for the same mark because of the crowd noise. I thought Matera showed huge effort and on occasion he and Ballas just weren’t able to communicate. Loved every minute of the game, and the whole stadium experience was brilliant. More please!

I thought it was the right thing not to pick Hamling last week for a tough match away in Adelaide - We would have still been thrashed but also scarred a young player for a long time through loss of confidence. Picking him for a big HOME match first was the correct call

Hamling is not a "young player ", he has been to the top of the game. If playing Port in Adelaide and getting beaten is going to scar him for life, he may as well go and play basketball. The flip side is, that with him in the side we may have had a forward line last week and won the game.

Hamling is an excellent player. Loved seeing him and Pearce as the fb/chb combo. Thought that was a huge difference from last week and allowed johnno to take an easier role.

And Wilson!!! Never really saw much of him at gws but he is a jet.

I liked fact our backline to a man, the young fellas who debuted, Fyfe and Neale, and Mundy and others up forward all took it upon themselves to try and beat their opponents 1-on-1 over 50/50 balls. Whether via leg speed or shrugging tackles. Even Crowden tried this and got smashed a few times early but showed composure late in match.

I’d rather lose the footy with guys doing this (if they cough it up) than the panicked hack forward which we’ve been guilty of. With the panicked kick usually goes straight to the opposition and you get shredded on the way back.

The most I've enjoyed watching us since the early rounds of 2015. The only times we looked average is when we slowed our ball movement and went sideways. Taking the game on we exposed them. Particularly liked a couple of the kicks to Fyfe that lead to goals. You wouldn't of made those passes to any other player on the park but the confidence in him to beat his man one on one is awesome. I don't think this win should be understated either. Playing 4 kids with 2 games between them is always a risk but the way they contributed was fantastic. Well done lads.

Bringing Wilson in cost us a 4th round and a future 2nd round. The debate would be if that was a hefty price to pay. GWS got Wilson as a 17yr old as a welcome to the Comp act. By his own admission, Wilson growing up as a Freo supporter, couldn’t be happier. Let’s hope he gets to win a premiership in purple.

Cant remember much debate jezza. Think we were all pretty happy with the deal. Watching him kick his dart 60 metres straight down the guts from the goal square was magic.

Bozza, there was a few times when we kicked across the ground and it worked well. Every time it worked, it was because the kick across was long and to a free player who then had a couple of options down the line. We get into trouble when we cross the ground with a short kick, and without making sure there is an option down the line for the receiving player.

Yep agreed RM. There was a few times where the long option was on but we weren't prepared to take that risk. We looked better when we took the risk.

Well...hopefully last night was the rock to build upon. Am mindful of the brilliant rd 3 &4 games last year that turned into nothing.
Lets hope the selection committe is strong enough to keep all these kids in for an extended stint. You'd have to think that a return for Sutcliffe, Sheriden, Spurr and D Pearce could only occur via injury. The 4 newbies will also put a fire cracker under Tucker, I reckon, and we'll see more from him.
My only concern from last night was Mcartney. He is a tall half forward flanker at best.......a long way away from a power forward. Was pretty good defensively though, and at the moment is - at best - playing a Chris Mayne role, perhaps a few degrees better, with more upside.
Tabs is growing & building. Great effort last night. Starts 'clunking' those uncontested marks and we'll have a player ! Thought he was real good, Yeti...

As per my earlier post, IIt’s pretty simple really. It’s all in the game plan. The game plan they used last week didn’t work so they tweaked it and used a different plan for yesterday’s game. It’s not rocket surgery.
Now the question is what plan will they use next week. Unfortunately we won’t know until after the game is finished.

Cletus, Paul was a good left hand guitarist in his day, not bad lyricist, and not bad on the vocals, but to expect him to take over from Pav at Full Forward the way footy is played today is a step too far.
