Rebuild is and always was a bear. Lyons 2016 was no different to the experienced team that won an unconvincing MP. He's basically saying he couldn't do anything with that cattle.

We cleared out the top age range and topped up with experienced, workmanlike players. We drafted and traded well. We played our share of the rookies. Clubs do that every year, we just moved on a few more than most do.

If they're still saying they need another 3 years, they're full of marketing crap.

Hypen if you actually read the response, Lyon states times it’s taken for those sides and then said he was fast tracking it, didn’t say it would take Freo 6-7 years.

For the record he has retooled, restumped and fast tracked, so he now has good coverage across all lines and importantly he has turned Taberner into the FF we were lookin* to recruit, we have a decent backline, first class midfield and a decent forward line, be prepared for a return to the eight and to apologise to Mr Lyon as he a far better coach than you will ever be!

J55 (thank me later for making you sound cool) this whole time frame thing is bulldust, it's baloney. Richmond have not stopped rebuilding since 1980. It doesn't take 6 years, 5 years or 4 years it takes a team to make the top 4 (99 p cent of the time) and then to play the best football out of the other finalists in that 4 week period.

That's all it is. Lyon knows this but he says these things to buy time for himself, safe in the knowledge fools believe him.

Good coach or not he's a snake oil salesman.

Realistically we could win 12 games because the trend is you should improve from the last year. We have 13 games at home. That’s a bonus. Looking at our draw, we play 4 our of the top 8 teams in our first 6 rounds. Not ideal but our pre-season suggests we should be pretty competitive against these top 8 teams. Put it this way, I’d rather have Roly coach than Simmo.
