Why does it have to be mutually exclusive?
I happened to be in the United States of Trumpeter last year, and immersing myself in the culture attended a Boston Red Sox baseball game at Fenway Park.
Bizarre doesn't begin to describe it - and that was just the folk in the crowd. The sport was a minor addition to the event - kind of what I'm expecting from the shiny new stadium thing for about 2 months until we all realise the footy is actually snot and flashing LED advertising and excessively loud loudspeakers are actually really annoying.
However, there was this bloke, accompanied by another person in what looked like a dinosaur costume, driving around on the back of a very fast four-wheel john deere buggy thing with a cannon on the back that fired free hot dogs into the crowd.
I'd get there early for the chance of losing an eye to a free alfoil wrapped bbq snag in a bun - with mustard and onion of course - or a hot pie cooled to the perfect temp by a 40-metre fling through the cool night air.
And I can't see too many OHS issues with players likely to get run over or do an ankle slipping on some spilled sauce, so don't really see the warm up on-ground distracting anyone from the frivolity of advertising disguised as food projectiles.
It could be a win-win for all.
