I’m going to hold off a tad on my optimism after today’s game. We played against a WAFL team. The result was inevitable. I thought we improved from the second half last week. A better indicator will be next week’s game.

What it shows is the eagles have nothing below there main 22. That is the guide for the season, because you will get injuries, Freo has shown over last two weeks there talent now runs much deeper than in the last few years meaning a better opportunity to cover injuries.

Impressions were mixed for me.

Going forward we lack organisation. If we can't improve there, we will beat weak sides and get smashed by good sides.

Skills are still lacking. Too many missed targets under no pressure.

Match committee hasn't got any better. How Sheridan and Pearce D get games is a bigger mystery than the Marie Celeste. They are taking up spaces that should be used to get games into the younger players.

McCarthy still showing very little. Really hope he comes good this season because right now, he's not best 22. Tabs was fine but a better and more coherent forward structure would assist him and the other forwards.

Brayshaw, Banfield, Wilson and Cerra - good gets. We will do well there.

Lucky we played a mob that might improve all the way up to ****. A good team would have walked all over us. Plenty of improvement required, much of it off field but we clearly have to cattle to be better than we are

You named the reason for most of the poor disposal Yeti, and I don't think we will see much of that trio. We still have a few to come in, Hamling and Pearce looked solid in the air down back, Darcy needs the run, and Fyfe, Logue and S Hill back in will add some positivity in disposal to the forward line. Mundy's mid field disposal this year is up a couple of notches on what he has showed for the last season and a half as well.

Jezza is right. It's good to beat them at any time but you wouldn't be getting too carried away with that. We had more of our best 22 playing than they did.

For all the reasons you identified, Yeti, is why we need some class, some “experienced, alternate views” on our coaching panel. Obviously, the ones there aren’t able to improve skills, nor provide resistance or reasoning as to why 3 has-beens are in the team compared to younsters. As such, nothing is gonna change.
We need some “class” in there rather than sicophants. Someone to challenge RoLy. A big name..

Theres one out there, and yes, he has a bit of baggage. We could do far worse.....
