Not sure if anyone was just listening to sports FM (and the SEN kevin bartlett show) but Sam McClue? is just on stating that dockers have contacted AFL asking about James Hird as a coach role at Freo.

AFL has basically said as he coached last year and presented the Norm Smith he is back in footy and no issue if he coaches at club.

Why not? Depending on your point of view, he was banned for either running a systematic doping program or being grossly incompetent in overseeing the welfare of his players.

He wasn't that good a coach that you'd overlook either of those things or anywhere inbetween to bring him to Perth.

Most importantly though, it will force hypen to become a GWS supporter.

Just read Ziggy Switkowski’s report into the Essendon drug scandal Jezza and you’ll find out very quickly why not. Our club talks a lot about it’s culture and in this one step they could easily destroy it. The guy’s narcissistic traits will cause major problems. Big mistake if there is anything to this rumour.

He has done some time but has shown no contrition. His lack of acceptance that he oversaw the Essendon mess doesn’t bode well. Surely we can do better than send a dodgy message to our players and fans. To sum it up, I’m not a big fan of Essendon’s slogan in their drug year “whatever it takes” - let’s not go there.
