TOPIC: Q & A: Stadium seating

Just a simple question - did any of you just accept the seats the club allocated, or did everyone get caught up in the panic-and-head-to-Cockburn thing?

I had a HM mate go to the club with me & purchase seats for us a week ago. We got the original allocated seats swapped to much better seats (From block 533 to same row on the aisle in block 517) & changed into our accounts. What was a surprise to me was the countdown to my priority window opening continued and now that it's open I've retained the ability to move again should better seats present. Unfortunately his window closed as of that transaction (the club advised this would be the case) but now I can return the favour to him if seats appear should he prefer to upgrade from his existing great seats.

I previously had a few cracks at the club (see below) and what I perceived as incompetence by IOMEDIA (they were deleted) but right now I'm loving the flexibility of the club and absolutely stoked with the software programmers at IOMEDIA for not considering this scenario.

As I said previously if the club were allowing existing members to purchase for non members and worse allowing those newly purchased seats to be seated away from the existing member then there was no way I was waiting for my priority period to open.

I felt a tad guilty about jumping the queue on other longer serving members so as a form of therapy I advised on DL for others to do the same. Well played to those who took my advice.

Well, after a week of thinking about it, being unable to login to our account, finding our set of 2+2 seats in 109 weren't connected together, being moved to 515 we've decided to again drop our memberships.

We signed up in 1997, lasted until the second year of Drum. We dropped it, exhausted. Signed up again for 2005. My brother-in-law is in the country and saw two games last year with his two seats.

We'll all just get tickets to games we want, when he can come to Perth.

When we finally got through, membership were very understanding, but offered us nothing but "OK, so long - it is what it is."

I'll be extremely interested in the membership movement number this year - do we have our community Board member reading DL??

All the lower seating being empty is going to look absurd on TV - I hope Ch7 are complaining long and hard. I hear the problem is the same over at Worst Coast land.

What *I* would have done in year one, is given people a direct equivalent seat 109 = 109 or there-abouts at Matthew Pavlich Stadium.

Get the on-field performance right, then start with the price rises year 2/3 for what really are premium seats, no doubt.

I'm convinced this tactic of straight to nose-bleed seat, or pay more now for a better spot, will see the membership number drop.

(Also have to be honest and say we were already wondering whether the financial side of it was worth it).

I'm with the computer on this one. 515 is much better than 109.

itscraptacular I'm struggling to follow you. I assume when you refer to 109 you mean at Subi? As 109 at the new joint is set aside for GA, has been since the opening of the Preview portal, as far as I know it's never been avail to Dockers members.
Subi 109 equivalent at the new joint would equate to 125 or 126.

My group was offered seats in Block 114. Decided it was too hard to stuff around so just clicked the accept button. Figured we'd worry about it next year if we wanted to shift. Might be easier then.

To be fair, it's not as if the stadiums are carbon copies. The 104 105, 106 blocks at Subi behind the Freo bench which is where we were, will not accommodate everyone at the new stadium. There are lots of corporates, media etc taking up the second tier so the third tier is what's left. Plus groups which can include newer members are allowed to choose first by dint of the oldest member so large sections have gone early. There will be no one sitting in the sun I think which will look pretty bad. In my dealings with the club the staff have gone out of their way to accommodate our needs and help us. Kudos to them.

Just to let everyone know. After monitoring the new stadium seat exchange portal for 11 long days, my group of 5 FINALLY got tickets in the block we wanted. Had a larger group originally but several of them took tickets earlier as they took what they could so they did not have to wait.
We were initially given 523 in the third tier but wanted around 327, 328 or 329 on the second tier (about where we had been for 14 years) and needed an aisle. Took forever but we got tickets in 329, with an aisle, last night. Thank you whoever did not want our perfect seats! :-)
Had to jump on the portal in lunch breaks and after work. It was very time consuming but at least we got our tickets.
Nothing is guaranteed but if you really want some tickets, maybe give it a little while (if you can) and see how you go. You might end up with nothing but you never know. Our allocated and new tickets were slightly cheaper than our Subi memberships too. Was not able to get them with assistance from the club when I visited them earlier in the week (the club did split our group so some members could take what they could -even though not ideal - as they did not want to wait), I eventually got them through patience and perseverance. Wasn't sure it was ever going to happen. Being a Dockers member, I am well practiced at patience so it came in handy. Good luck with your tickets, Dockerlanders!!

I thought the system worked pretty well in the end. I was a group leader for a group of 9. Our allocated seats weren't terrible but weren't great either. There weren't many obviously better seats available for the last week or so, at least not for than many people together, but I logged in once a day to have a look around without much success. Luckily last night some pretty good seats popped up and I was able to grab them.

For those unhappy with your allocated seats, I reckon keep trying. I suspect there will be some very good seats becoming available closer to the deadline for renewal.

We ended up in block 108 row 23 up under the stand above under proper cover.
Not the worlds best seat but very similar to where we've sat for 15 years at Subi.
Gone from paying $825 each last season to $249 now.
As we find it difficult to go on a Sunday we feel better about it if we can't make it
