TOPIC: Weller to GC

I see this as GC's "Hodge Trade", not ideal, but understandable.

No hard feelings for Weller. Booing is for knobs.

shane, given your butterballing out at the first negotiating hurdle here, selling imaginary bridges might be your safest bet for a business venture.

Please Dockerlanders
No booing Weller when he plays here in 2018. He should be treated like all returning ex-Freo players to WA: A big round of applause as a thank you for the service rendered during his years at the Dockers. An especially warm thank you for allowing Freo to pick up the silly offer GCS put on the trade table for him to go to the Gold Coast. We will be forever grateful to him.

Years of service is a big call, and then went on national radio to apply pressure on us to accept a second rounder. A bit rich after dropping this on the club half way through the trade period.
I don't hold it against him, if somebody approached me and said we want you to come work for us for nearly double what you are worth I would do what was needed to get there. No need to dress it up though, cash is king.

Don't be too concerned Docker plus, no one goes to watch the Gold Coast when they play here anyway. I think that home game is schedule for the Wyong Reserve in Bentley.

Just polished off what's left of the bottle of Port. Tasted extra good tonight. Adding to last year's haul, this year's crop is even more spectacular. I'm crossing everything in the hope Cam Rayner is our pick 2. Because he'll play in the early rounds and be in our best 22. Huge raps I know. All we need now is for Mzungu to hold the boys accountable during the pre-season running. I'm sure he'll be encouraged to train with us given he's going to be our runner during the season.

When we win our first flag in a few years remember this date. Wilson, Matera and 2 whilst protecting 5 is nothing short of outstanding. A Grade talent is as rare as likeable Eagles supporters. Imagine Cotchin without Martin and Selwood without Dangerfield. Imagine our 5 without 2. Our rebuild has now got rocket fueled power tools.

Well according to Gary Buckenarra, our trade overall was rated as a B+ and the Eagles rated B. In fact his rating of Freo was no better than the Dogs and slightly better than Richmond. Ok I know he's the guru of recruting but what exactly makes for a bumper trade period. Clearly it's perhaps Freo's best trade period in history. Oh well, I guess he's the expert.

I think without getting pick 2 for Weller it was pretty so so , The big issue with me is the future picks we traded out ,Rounds 2 ,3 &4 it concerns me a little bit .But I think this strategy could work if you can get away with it , just keep trading future picks , It's like interest free credit .
And is more attractive to clubs while they see you as being near the lower end of the ladder . If you are finishing first or second every year not so attractive , So hopefully won't get away with it for much longer

There are some nice people out there that support the Eagles,Just as long as you don't talk footy with them They are fine , And they all seem to be such gracious people , Never gloat when they win never shove their past successes down your throat .......... Don't worry The doctor will be here any minute

Eagles supporters don't really "talk football", because they're not interested in hearing any opinion that doesn't agree with their own, narrow view.

I'll not be booing Lachie Weller. He played 2 full seasons for us, did all that was asked of him, and seems to have been made an offer he couldn't refuse, one that suited him professionally and on a personal level (yet somehow left Fremantle in a good place too). Most of us would have made the same choice. When GC play here, Lachie will be a returning ex-Docker, deserving of the same respectfull reception we've afforded other players who've moved on. Let's all try to remember what separates us from the other mob up the road.
