Weller's manager has stated the move home is primarily for his partner's wishes to be close to her parents. Furthermore there was a long term (4yr. Extension) offer by Freo that's been on the table for Lachie to consider. The thought of staying in Perth for another 5 yrs. wasn't appealing. Now it seems that GC has a contract agreed in principle for Weller on the table. Sounds like this has been brewing in the background. This is a first round pick in return if I ever saw one or swap for Martin.

Listening to trade radio the hype around Weller is enormous. I would think with Weller's consistency, skill and experience and all this hype he should be a first round pick or two second rounders at least.

How can GC have a contract on the table for a player already contracted?
GC need Weller as they lost Saad to Essendon and require a rebounding half back.
Freo should be in with a chance of getting someone that would be ready made to fit into the 22.
If he doesn’t want to stay....it’s simple.... don’t keep him. Get the deal done.

Sorry I meant to post on this thread,

What if we swap pick 5 = 1878 , Weller (who I think would be worth pick 10) = 1395 , plus pick 55 = 207 , total = 3480

For pick 2 = 2517 , 22 = 845 and Matera = 135 total points = 3497

Then we trade GWS pick 22 for Wilson.

We could use pick 2 to get the best available midfielder, my choice would be Rayner.
