Lets be really clear, there is absolutely no good will built up from year to year. You either do a good deal a bad deal, you take a punt, you are a winner or a loser. What one club did or didnt do last year is completely irrelevent. Half the time youre not even dealing with the same people who shafted you/gifted you last year.

I have to say, I am not sure what to say about our trading team if this is true, from the afl website.

The young bloke has been poorly advised in my opinion by a greedy manager.

Another good year for Freo next year and he would command even more dollars and it would be easier to get a deal done.

Tough decisions for a young man but having a manager that puts his own interests doesn't help the player or clubs involved.

I think just the second rounders all three??maybe with some later picks sent back to GC I get the feeling Freo feel this is a shallow draft , And this could be their reasoning for insisting on a high first rounder , Where they would have more chance of a like for like player

The badly advised interview has pushed the situation beyond the point of no return. There's no going back for Weller. GC has obviously been all over this for weeks and presumably had a hand in the interview. They can't now walk. All the Dockers have to do is hold firm.

I don't think Freo have much incentive to force complicated deals at this point in time.

It is probably a good thing if Gold Coast don't accept pick two and he plays another year with us. We could convince him to stay by offering him a better deal if we reckon he's worth it and he may be happy to stay. At one stage he said he would like to play his career at Freo. He has clearly been dazzled by the money the Suns have offered and his girlfriend sounds pretty keen on it as well. You can't blame a young man for that........ but another year over here and he could change his mind or have it changed for him.

Worst case scenario he shoots through at the end of next year and we get less than what is being offered now........but I reckon it is worth the punt holding our ground

What would he be worth as a premiership player for Peel. On a more serious note, the Weller deal is not going to impact the arrival of Wilson and Matera. I wonder had Lachie not called Freo silly for not accepting GC offer would they've buckled. Well look forward to welcome the newbies in.
