Despite a definite difference in class, swap Lachie for Matera, Tom Nicholls and Pick 21 or a combination of those. We give Pick 21 to GWS for Wilson. We then pick up Wilson and a reasonable ruck option OR, given that big Mummy looks likely to retire GCS send Nicholls to GWS, tthey send Wilson to us and we send Weller to GCS.

Agreed - Martin for Weller. We’re losing a key part of our rebuilding midfield so a swap with an equally talented player is only fair.

Andrew is looking to move to GC to play with David so it’s highly unlikely David will want to come home.

If GC won’t play ball - Lachie’s still under contract.

Realistically the most obvious trade is Weller for Wilson (via a GC pick) + Matera (a reject by GC). Not sure what GWS is asking for Wilson? This deal allows us to keep pick 5 intact. I hope this comes about. A win / win for all concerned I would think. We still might have to give GC something for Matera e.g. pick 82.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but it does look like we have stuffed it up majorly by trading Crozier, who can easily fill Weller's position...gotta wonder when the club was informed of Weller's intentions..

Would be very disappointing to see Weller go

I think Wilson and Weller are of comparable value . Wilson is the better player at this stage but Weller has more upside being 3 years younger. So if GC want to involve Wilson in the trade maybe say a player swap plus we upgrade our pick 41 to their pick 26 given the age difference

GWS originally wanted a top 20 pick and Gold Coast have pick 21 which may get the deal done or as I've said previously they now need a ruck replacement for big Mummy so may be happy to take on Tom Nicholls who is on the outer at Gold Coast as part of any deal.

Whats next? Sorry coach I can't play interstate this week, my mums sister is having a 60th and she would really like me to go. Also can I have the weekend off in mid August as my mum needs help to paint the house. The AFL and draft are now starting to become even further compromised (if thats possible) with this "family reasons" stuff.

How has Collins got any relevance to the Weller/Wilson discussion??
Weller is contracted so the club doesn't have to play ball. Gold Coast would be super keen to pull this off and they have plenty of picks. Freo could get overs for Weller and come out of the trade period with another big tick.
