Apeness was a first round pick who has been struck by injury...how many others have we carried...for years? Pitt, Mora, etc. Have to at least see him fit for a whole season.

You probably saw a lot more of him than Apeness, which helped you see a lot more in him.

Apeness has never had a good run at his chance and is only 23?, so hopefully he's had his injuries and will get a good run at a number of games to show some promise.

Zac Clarke was always going to be a basketball player trying to play AFL. There is no other ruck type playing in the AFL with his light frame and build, Moller was Zac like and proved to be not suited to the game.

Saw more of Morabito? What we saw was a rare talent who could have been anything. Played 13 games before doing his knee. Never dropped.
Apeness played 2 games in 2014 and 5 games in 2016. He was dropped in both seasons and couldn't hold his place in the side when he was fit.

Bigger blokes nearly always take longer to get right, without persistent injuries. We have a guy who was a first pick and showed at least some aggression and is 201cm...have to see what he can do with a decent run at it.

He was dropped after 2 games, not injured. He's never done anything close to say Tabener's level when fit and playing at Peel.
Great if things turn around this year, but if you're holding out for him to be some kind of great white hope, imo it could be a long wait.

And as we know, first picks don't necessarily mean anything, particularly at Fremantle.

Apeness played 2 games in 2014 after coming in late for a crook Pav against Melbourne in Rnd 16 at TIO Stadium in Darwin. He played the following week in the big win over GWS at home when Pav came back into the side but was dropped the following week when we got smashed by St Kilda at Eddie'sHat.

He missed 2015 with a left knee PCL and forced his way into the side in 2016 in Round 11 against Essendon and having been at the game - went in hard to some forward contests a few times close together. Only problem was he ran into B.Goddard both times and came off second best with a broken collarbone.

He then made it back for for the last 4 rounds, including the Round 23 win over the eventual Premiers - Bulldogs.

So it could be argued he got an early look in in 2014 thanks to Pav coming down crook on game day and didn't hold his spot after the following week.

That is really the only time he was 'dropped' as he was injured in his first game of 2016 and played the last 4 games. Between then and the start of 2017 we recruited Cammac & Kersten and he didn't feature at all after tearing his right knee PCL during a Peel reserves game in May.

Hopefully his knee issues are over and he can get a good run at it in 2018. Blokes 200cm and 105kg don't grow on trees and we're about due a bit of luck with a first round draft pick.
