TOPIC: Jesse Hogan in Purple 2018

Whatever Hogan averages at the Dees, halve it at the Dockers with our current game plan. Halve it again if Lachie Neale goes.
Wayne Carey in his prime would have only kicked 30 goals for the Dockers this season.

Unless Hogan is basically threatening behind the scenes to spit the dummy and do a CamMac and leave the Dees regardless, Freo will by definition have to pay overs for him this year. Unless we think we can win the flag next year, then we shouldnt pay such a high price this year, get him cheaper the following year.

Pick 5 has to be used on Brander or the best midfielder left on the list.

Hoges at Fremantle would stop me taking my dog to the country for a digital free weekend on the Derby rounds.

We are getting our best players together why would you trade one of them away to get one back ?

Keep our best and add to that the best way we can . That's what I think .

Lachie Neale??? NO!....a big No. But realistic because its kinda the dumb thing that our recruiters would do.

Think its more likely to be Lachie Weller, and though I reckon he's a keeper, out of all the ones we 'want to keep' , he's probably the one that I'd be prepared to let go. Maybe Tucker....maybe he could go back to Melbourne, but definitely not Lachie Neale.

And if L.Neale WAS n the table, I'd expect a helluvalot more than Jesse Hogan, who, at this stage, has more "hype" than "results".

Averaging more than two goals a game in your first couple of seasons in a mid level club is hardly hype.

I do accept that Walter...but whilst I'd love to see him in Purple, and he has had good reason for a few ups and downs, I'm not certain he's the a fellow we should be "giving everything & the kitchen sink" for. Yes, he may well be a player that eventually kicks 4 or 5 every week, and yes, he's probably the only proven/potential tall forward that we've got a chance of of recruiting back here at the moment, ....all those are extremely good reasons for chasing him....

But giving up a main part of the engine room, is a step too far. IMHO....

But, then again, you'll probably counter that with the Judd/Kennedy trade, and yep, I can see the merit in the concept....
Though, at the time, I'm not sure The Slime saw JK as 'their saviour', and yet he certainly has been. Where as, at this moment, we might think of Hogan as "our saviour" - get the deal done! And, ...well...I'm not entirely convinced he's the "be-all & end-all"!

That's all I am saying...

We've had a bit of experience with "hyped" up players before....and it hasn't ended too well!

This post is everything I love about trade period.

For years the Dockerland hive-mind has been bagging the club for not recruiting a big forward to replace Pav - himself a once-in-a-generation player - like it's the easiest thing in the world to do. A 22 year old top-5 key forward from WA could be on the table. Someone 'on good authority' presents a rumoured trade for said forward as a 'done deal'. Someone else, in seemingly their first post on Dockerland, casually throws Neale's name (or at least number) into the conversation. Everyone loses their mind.

Look, I love rumours, speculation and fans overvaluing their own players as much as the next person, but trade period doesn't end until next Friday, and we've already got people saying we shouldn't get Hogan because Tabs is just as effective. Where does that leave us to go in the next 7 days?

I think a few deep breaths are in order. It's a long trade period and I don't want anyone to injure themselves in the pre-trade season.

Where did the Lachie Neale rumour start? Sounds like the only ones talking about it are on this page.

The trade as it was explained to me, will be
Pick 5 to Carltank
Gibbs to Adelaide
Lever to Melbourne
Hogan to us

Ps I don't think it'll happen

The trade period is between 9-19 Oct. 10 days of speculation, elation and disappointment for supporters. A period which builds hope for the forthcoming season. Coupled that with the draft on Nov 24 and the preseason and rookie draft on the 27Nov, footy never really sleeps. What we know is both Wilson and Matera are keen to join us and that's a lock. Both good 'B' graders who should improve Freo slightly. If to get Hogan we decide to sell the farm, then there's no denying there'll be outrage but as it stands it's nothing but jungle drums. A lot of noise.

Funny thing with KPF's if they average 1 goal a game they are no good , But if they average 2 you throw your first pick and one of your best midfielders at him .seems a lot for one extra goal a game.

We have been around long enough that we can start to recruit kids that's grew up supporting Freo. Cammac is a Freo diehard like us! So is Hogan. We missed the boat with Yeo and the McGovern boys. If these lads have as much Freo passion as we do get them in.
