There's no need for a young ruckman at present let alone using our top pick to go reaching for a player likely to go in the teens based on talent. We have one already along with the best in the game and can pick up a mature age prospect or a promising kid later in the draft as back up. There's no reason to waste pick 5 on a position we have covered.

A KPF is our far most pressing issue and what we need to target. I'm not against a gun mid but we do need a tall forward much more desperately, specifically one that will be able to lead and mark. That's Brander.

Another option. I would be happy for us to trade our pick 5 with gold coast or a team you think will finish near the wooden spoon for their 2018 first round draft pick. I think there might not be a good enough key forward in this draft.

Going back over old ground Bizkit, how have you rated SPS in season 2017. He was on your wish list for Freo's first last year from memory. I think Logue showed more improvement as the season wore on compared to SPS. Who's a mid worth picking up with our No.5

I believe we need someone like Wilson, who as a left footer and Ryan as a right footer, can switch and set up play with incisive kicks coming out of defence to the Hills, Fyfe, MikeW, Bennell, Ballas, Blakely, Weller, Langdon, Neale and McCarthy.

Logue didn't show enough for mine as someone not quite tall enough to hold down a key defensive post. He lost his head often and didn't look like a natural footballer to me but he did follow instructions quite well which will hopefully see him learn quickly. His kicking is good and he has obvious athletic ability but i'm unconvinced by his decision making which is a large part of the game. He'll be a decent 3rd tall defender but that's not really what you should be aiming for with first round picks, you want game changers.

SPS had quiet patches where he was stuck in the blues forwardline and coming off an injury in the pre season performed surprisingly well. He thrived with the ball in hand and did all the right things, it will be exciting to see him go into the middle once he's built up an engine and put on a little more weight. He even picked up 3 votes in one game to show he can really mix it with the best.

How tall is Griffin Logue really?

If you take Alex Rance as the ideal size, Wikipedia has him at 194cm and 95kg. The Richmond FC site has him at 194 and 96.

Wikipedia has Logue at 193cm and 95kg, but the Freo FC site has him at only 189 and 90. He is super athletic but only Wikipedia Logue will be able to hold down a key position. I'm hoping for Wikilogue.

I dont want to kill Bambi here but could we offer up Lachie Neale to Adelaide in a 3 way to get Jesse Hogan to us and Jake Lever to Melb??
I would love to keep pick 5.
Lachie is a fantastic player but with Weller, Blakely and Langdon coming through - can we afford to offload him to land a genuine 10 year key forward??
They say you have to give quality to get quality..and boy do we need Hogan!

There is also a bit of talk about Mundy heading back home to either Melb or Richmond..
This may assist.
Hate to see that happen but it would free up salary cap space to land a big fish and hes not getting any younger or better.

Just on Logue...I reckon he has all the attrbutes, not necessarily kpp but can really dash out of defence with pace. Did ok for a first year player...and showed some aggression...could even develop as a big midfielder. Not many are extra special in their first year...
