Well my point is, we recruited Darcy, and he is a natural footy player. He stepped straight into a difficult role, as a teenager, without the "year of full pre-season" that seems to be required by an AFL player these days, and performed very well. Zac Clarke, while promising, would not have been able to do that as he is not a natural footy player. Darcy knew his limitations with fitness etc., and learnt very quickly how to give his best for the team within those limitations. Because he is a natural footballer. Recruit footballers, not the people who beep test off the scale, or can run Olympic grade time trials, but would not know where to go on a footy field.
