If you are of the point of view that we are in critical need of a KPF that many on here are, then Hogan is probably the best get available. If he is not worth a first round pick and a player then I don't know who is.
Adelaide are reportedly wanting two first round picks for Lever a KPB if this is true KPF's are harder to get than backs.
I have seen posts suggesting that Balic is worth a second round pick.
We always tend to over rate our players relative to others, we have been a bottom four team for two years my guess is other teams have some higher quality than us.
Personally I think a player of the likes of Wilson is more what we need. If we were to secure Wilson surely he is more than adequate replacement for Weller off half back.
There is so much water to go under the bridge but I get the feeling that our recruiting team is very active and exploring all possible options to improve our list.

There actually is not much in the GWS academy this year but a fair bit coming through next year. I reckon they will want our second round pick for next year to get the points needed. The only downside is next years draft is supposed to be better than this years. Although they seem to say that ever year. Future second rounder is my guess.

Consider that in terms of cap space, Sandilands, and johnson have 1 more year in them, Mundy 1-2. Yarran, Dawson and Ibbo all retire. Danyle Pearce may get his contract paid out.

If next year is slightly tighter then you can try to back load some contracts. I'm not sure what % of the salary cap we are paying but didn't they introduce something that if you aren't paying 100% of the salary cap that you can roll that over into future years? So if we were under by 300k last year we could spend an aditional 300k next year without penalty??

I would be open to balic + pick 5 for Hogan.

Wilson is a big yes. With Wilson and Ryan delivering the ball from defensive 50 that should make a big big difference to the team.

Yep, it gives us something to trade to get Hogan,

I would not be disappointed if Weller was traded to get 1 of Hogan/Wilson. They are both worthwhile gets, and we have an abundance of the Weller type of player.

We may have a few Weller type players but not of his quality when delivering the ball into the forward line. Wilson is similar when kicking from defence but more of a long bomb kicker and we've got plenty of those.

Wilson is another one of those many 17 yr. olds concession picks gifted to GWS as a startup club. Hogan belong in the same boat landing in Melb. instead. Getting both players in purple together with Matera who was also a 17 year old send to the Suns would be I believe the greatest coup in the club's history. More importantly watching the smirks on Slime's supporters faces would be a great moment in time. No doubt the value added to Freo with those players in purple will be significant but it's a fair climb to the summit even with the flag in sight.

According to The Age here, Hogan may well be open to a move home and Melbourne are interested in Balic.

So my dream trade period (as it currently stands) would be:

pick 5 and Balic to Melbourne for Hogan,
pick received from Bulldogs for Crozier passed to GC for Matera
second round pick for 2018 to GWS for Wilson

I know that leaves us without a second round pick next year, but if it's true GWS need draft points for some academy kids next year, then our second pick next year may appeal to them.

Of course, if we're lucky enough to find suitors for Sutcliffe and/or Sheridan and can snaffle a draft pick to pass across to GWS for Wilson for them - then better still.

All of a sudden our KPP stocks look pretty healthy and Cammac will benefit immensely from having a genuine power forward to take the No. 1 defender.
