We haven't heard very much about ZacC. How is his dodgy knee? Is he still under contract? Is he traceable? Does he stay with us on the the list for some depth in our ruck division?
I feel sorry for ZacC as he showed potential but like others injuries have been cruel to him and surely his spot on the list must be under scrutiny.

Lance Franklin was taken at pick 5.

We have to keep it and use it to pick the best tall forward prospect available.

You can always trade for midfielders and pick them up later in the draft e.g. Fyfe and Lachie Neale but the best key forwards that are needed to set up a club for a decade of success are always found in the top 10.

They are not always the obvious talent either, but you have to grab them early. Otherwise you lose out to a team taking a risk on them at pick 30, before you use pick 35 on them. A lot more midfielders slip through simply because there are more to pick from, and every club has their Fyfe and Neale "lucky to slip through" stories. Identify your KPF target early, and take him with your first pick.

Much has been said about power forwards. Of the top 8 teams, Adelaide has 2 in Walker and Jenkins. Geelong relies on HAWKINS, Sydney has got Buddy, Rich has Riewoldt, not exactly a power forward and Slime with Kennedy with GWS Patton and Cameron. Dixon for Port could have been a hero but he kicked 3.6 against the vomit. All these players bar GWS have had long careers. I'm not sure if drafting one is going to be the answer, especially during Roly's tenure of 2020. He said we'll aim to win the cup by then. Pick 5 suddenly looks like a tradeable commodity. Except it won't be for a KPP.

We would only be considering trading pick 5 if we were in flag contention in the next 2 years or if there was a gun KPP on the trade table. Neither of which is the case so let's use it and pick wisely.

Twelve months ago this site went in to meltdown over the recruitment of McCarthy as the successor to Pav. He seems to have been forgotten but I wouldn't give up on him especially if Taberner stays.
