The hot topics in the stands yesterday were professional players coming in and playing with part timers, as one bloke was saying they get massages every day while the others are laying bricks, which is possibly not something to google...and guys that have played all year getting bumped from the team to let it happen.
The argument from the AFL clubs was about controlling coaching and development. Cool... that's fine. They get all year to look after that and come finals time it's something like half the season played or something. As it is, you've got 15 AFL listed players running out for Peel yesterday... it's like changing the rules of a comp just for the finals in a way, completely changes the make up of the team.
Personally, I think you should be trying harder to look after the integrity of the WAFL instead of treating it like a very poor second cousin you only let out at weddings and funerals. The WAFC has allowed AFL to dominate, yet you need that WAFL footy humming to develop players.
