Had a great day out in the sun as a guest of some members... sad to say I was right in tbe middle of the booing and it was all about the alignment and taking the mickey out of Freo. A lot of it.

Anyway, a chance encounter inside the rooms and I'm out for dinner with the Peel captain and his family. Which is actually really cool.

He's a class act. Knows how to find a footy quicker than a search engine.

I was at the game, and contrary to another comment, I thought Taberner looked strong and was good in the contest. He'll do well for us next year. Logue was all poise for someone so young.

Logue had enough poise to initiate the next big thing in footy - the boof-bun.

Tabs was good today Noddy.

Marked well, got two goals, handed off another 2 or 3 and should have had more but some clear marks weren't called by the maggots. He tackled pretty well from what I saw of the game.

Overall a very handy performance and he covered a lot of ground

And when Tabs wasn't marking he was competing (as a starting point that's all you ask) and bringing the ball to ground.
Apparently you can build a fwd structure game plan around that.

Yeti, Wiz33 obviously has his POV and we ain't going to change it but I ask you this Wiz33 how often does Tabs get out marked by his opponent?
My perception is not often at all either he marks or the ball spills to ground.
Compare that answer to the next. How often do Cam & Kirsten get out marked?
My perception of both Cam & Kirsten is that they have little or no appetite for the contested mark.
Tabs is the #1 in the AFL for average contested marks at 2.8 /game.
That is a huge asset that should be exploited.
Isolate him and his opponent closer to goal with space (i.e Cam & Kirsten lead out taking their opponents away from Tabs, kick it to Cam or Kirsten if the lead warrants it but if not then long to the Tabs 1 on 1. Put 2 quality goal kicking crumbers (Bennell/Walters/Ballantyne) at his feet and that's a recipe for higher scoring IMHO. Hell we get enough entries we just need the finish.
Simplistic I know but has it ever been employed as our fwd structure?

The WAFL and alignment issues aside, Peel is now a genuine WAFL team. I've liked the idea of the Freo boys playing there. I had my reservations about Tabs, but I've come around. The last 6-8 weeks he's preformance have surpassed Cammac and Kersten. I like to posed a question. We recruited Apeness in 2013 at pick 17 and Tabs got promoted to the main list. In that time, Apeness has played 7 AFL games to Tab's 49. We've got one who's injury proned and one who's resilient and perhaps about to breakout into something we need. My feeling is Freo are likely to cut the Ape and persevere with Tabs. Like Stoney said, he's getting this contested mark thing down pat.

You can't call them a genuine WAFL team and put the alignment aside. That's almost their entire being at the moment.

I find it hard to believe that a lot of these blokes, particularly someone like Griffin Logue, are better playing WAFL finals than going off for a break and coming back to do a preseason 4 weeks earlier.
