Let's not kid ourselves, Subi like to beat up teams and got a bit of their own medicine.

Dawson appeared almost stationary to me and Baker tried to take out someone too large for him.

I did see early on Deluca get coat hangered to the head by a Subi player with lots of claret resulting and no free kick or subsequent report and the decking of the fist was also pretty low.

It seems like a truce was called at the tribunal with no team suffering any penalties. The Subi fan who nearly marched into the Peel huddle at 3/4 time yelling at Dawson while doing throat slitting actions could have caused a riot and should have received a 4 week suspension.

You can cry in your fish'n chip wrapped article all you like, for most of the footy fans out there wouldn't give a rat's. Most people are tuned into AFL now and if the Freo affiliate local can win a GF then that bodes well for our future.

Geez, we don't see Sandilands and Fyfe running around out there for Peel.

Maybe they just need to fine tune the rules a bit for the most senior Freo players who are coming to the end of their AFL careers.... but then again, that should be good recruiting grounds for other WAFL teams.

Quoting Townsend

"Peel’s 2017 strategy appears simple in hindsight – use whatever means possible to qualify for the finals, dump the locals who helped get them there and then stack the team with a host of hardened AFL stars who could bring somewhat tarnished glory to the club."

They don't seem to apply the same blowtorch to the tarnished glory of the eagles flags. I also don't recall the same hubbub of parroting when the eagles aligned clubs were dominating the comp. Nor when Peel were shafted year in year out, so why cry now. Good on Peel for grabbing while the grabbing's good. They have had their share of kicks in the guts.

My knowledge of the alignment is somewhat sketchy, so can someone outlined the process of the alignment and the recommendations of the club's chiefs when implementing this revamped competition. The little I know suggests that everyone gave it a thumbs up and the WAFC was handsomely rewarded for their cooperation. Like I said my knowledge of this whole caper is minimal. I like to echo the thoughts of RM that, everything Peel in the past was pitiful, and clubs and their hierarchy were happy to kick them in the guts.

The WAFC pushed very hard for the alignment deal.

The WAFL clubs accepted money in exchange for agreeing to the alignment deal.

Well they all have what they voted for. I don't see the problem. when the deal expires, they can renegotiate. In the meantime, I think they should hold up their end of the deal and stop the press campaigning.

They never had any problems watching $ubiaco rort the competition for the last decade

Also, go Peel

Unfortunately it's the way of the times. We could make it 8 games played to be eligible as in SA. I notice Port reserves are in finals but not Adelaides team same as East Perth Eagles team. Brisbane beat Sydney in the NEAFL with Gold Coast doing ok and as with our competition the local teams like NT Thunder have fallen short. Of course in Melbourne they all have teams or are aligned to one and I don't think they have any eligibility rules. The way the AFL was formed was always going to kill our WAFL which was one of the reasons I never jumped on board when Eagles were formed. No doubt most of the whingers don't ever attend any WAFL games anymore anyway. And yes I've been to a few of my black ducks games and will be at the GF.

That's just excuse making because it's your club. Fremantle are being ********s. You'd have to work pretty hard to make a case where the future benefit of players like Dawson, Pearce, Griffin and Ibbotson need to be playing WAFL weeks after the season is over. Even half the young blokes would be better off taking holidays now and getting in a longer pre-season.

It's a vanity project and it's unsustainable. At this a rate, Fremantle will kill the WAFL and end up with nowhere to put their players.

Most of those blokes you mentioned are playing their last game of footy. It's got nothing to do with Fremantle.

The WAFL clubs made their bed and should lie in it. As earlier posters have said - if it was East Perth in the GF none of these articles would have been written.

Well as Subi have rorted the system for years and Peel are making a mockery of an even competition I think what Shane is saying is that SF would be deserving winners.

If it were East Perth you'd see it for what it is.

And only East Perth and Peel wanted it. The others were bullied into it by Friday and West Coast.

Jezza. When they had the first meeting with the Wafl club Presidents. They said no to the alignment. The commission was pushing for a Freo+Peel Alignment. Peel was sucking the Wafcdry. The Eagles wanted there own stand alone side like Adelaide in the Sanfl.Topped up with under 23 players.
East Perth negociated behind the scenes as the Eagles offered 500k a year. That started the formation of the G7 clubs.
The problem is the Wafc didn't set proper guidelines for the alignment players.Like the Sanfl did.Capped at no more than 12 Afl players In any side. And no more than 8 Afl games in a season.Peel fielded 16 Dockers last Sunday.

People also have to realise that there's only about 10,000 genuine Wafl fans left. With about 60% of them aged over 65 years old. That generation of fans hate the alignment.
Wafl attendances are up 10% in 2017.But down over 40% since the alignments started. It's killing the competition.

Don't blame Peel or Freo. The WAFC stuffed up the introduction of Peel into the comp, and torpedoed Freo repeatedly from day one of their existence. Lay the blame where it belongs. Both clubs were bought into existence as a sop to commercial interests, rather than as an addition to their respective competitions and administrations in footy did not care whether they would be successful or not. Why should they then be surprised when these 2 clubs, faced with an opportunity to fire some torpedos of their own, say lets sink some ships.

Good points RM.Manduarh is a retirement city.In credit to Peel they have produced some reasonable Colts sides. And other Wafl clubs have poached thoes players.
As for the Wafc and Freo. That story is locked away behind closed doors.West Coast had a lot more cash and resources then Freo ever had.One of the reasons Freo couldn't recruit big names into the club in the early days.
On anything Wafl it's hilarious to have Subiaco crying Wolf about Peel.Talking of clubs bending and stretching rules to suit themselves.
