Since 2010, we've missed out on finals 3 times. Other then when we first came into the compettion, we've never regenerated a list like we have in the last 18 months. When we last played Sydney in 2016, we've had 16 new players in our side compared to their 4 yesterday. The teams you've mentioned like Carlton, Saints, Brisbane, Suns and Melb have been on a rebuild path forever. Yet in 18 months we've doubled our win loss ratio, while playing 7 debutants this year. Other then Brisbane this year, the two 100 pt. losses we had was against two juggernaut teams who I believe will be playing in the GF this year. I see us returning to the finals next year and while you might brush away a statement like that, I believe our list profile and growth despite a couple of heavy losses, is primed to trend upwards. After this years trade and draft period, where I've got no doubt we'll add a couple of 'A' listers, our footy team will be as good if not better than the current Melbourne side. Lets not forget we beat them at the MCG early this year. There's finals and sustained success from 2018, despite some who's balanced view see doom and gloom unless we find a new orchestrator.
