No one was suggesting you were disillusioned. Delusional possibly.

You expected us to make the eight. We haven't made the eight. Now you're claiming that what we've done is better than anyone would have expected.

Maybe weave a bit of reality into the narrative every now and then to keep the story grounded.

It's not in my DNA to bag people who I believe are working towards a common goal. The reality is between 2012-2015, we had our most successful time as a club with Roly at the helm. The list had enough "A" graders and had it not been for inaccuracies, we'd have a cup. Since then, we've regenerated and there's nothing delusional about stating that there's a massive upside in the list with Roly still at the helm. If you remember, after 2008, Kennett was adamant Clarkson was not the man to take Hawthorn any further. For what it's worth, the board of the FFC should be congratulated for showing faith in Roly. I'll continue to keep the faith until that faith is no longer.

I'm still waiting for the 'sustained success' that was the reason for Harvey getting the chop....because this 'sustained success' malarkey pretty much sucks for the last 2 and half years

If Bennell, Yarran, Apeness, Moose and 211 had been in .......we may well have been in the eight. Given Johnno is our key big back, we have no big forward and an 18 year old is our key ruck, I think we've done ok....barring the occasional flogging but hey Port got belted by Adelaide last week by nearly a 100 points.

Jezza, it's nice to see someone putting a positive spin on things. Since you've been singlehandedly holding back the tide of negativity I haven't felt the need to post so much, and have actually been spending more time with my family.

They wanted me to tell you to knock it off for their sake.

Jezza continues to make arguments for those in charge which is commendable and quite impressive at times but being a yes man isn't always a good thing. I find it far better to question why things go wrong and try to analyse how to make them better opposed to blind belief.

I haven't felt the need to comment much of late on the state of the side and those in charge of it because I'd only be rehashing thoughts put forward previously. I don't think RL is doing a good job with the rebuild and in comparison to most teams we are in a pretty bad position.

I hope things are better than that but we are all quite aware they're not. Where previously the die hard supporters would carry the club and continue to show up to games and support through thick and thin, the Steve's and RL have shed many of them over the past 5/6yrs and now we are experiencing lows like the pre Connolly era with lack of attendance and interest in the side.

Moving to the new stadium could not have come at a worse time for the club and I'm surprised more hasn't been made of the fall from grace atm.

It's the bandwagon syndrome, Biz. Everyone jumps on it when teams are winning and that's throughout the AFL. Melb drew a crowd of 52k at the MCG on Sun and that hadn't happened in decades. Look at the Bulldogs fall from grace this year, the crowds diminished. Here's the thing, where will you be next year when we start climbing the ladder. Had we beaten GWS and Geelong, both away games and games that we're in front at 3/4 time, there would have been zero talk of gameplans, structures etc etc and Roly's inadequacies as a coach. I've been following and playing this game since Noah was a boy and I can genuinely see that our footy team led by arguably one of the better coaches in the AFL will lead us to success sooner than most think. 2018 can't come soon enough.

That's the biggest amount of ifs I've seen in a long while Noddy.

A 34 yr old who is injured more often than not, a guy who is in danger of being sent to prison, a guy whose career is hanging by a thread due to injury, a promising backman who hasn't played in two years due to injury and a forward who is always injured also but has shown no progress even when he does play.

I'm surprised you haven't thrown Zac Clarke and Ubergang in there too.

Just for reference Jezza, when we were going through the biggest and most successful rebuild at the club between 2007-10, we had plenty at games despite a struggling and young side. Far more than at present.

2007 - 11th - 37,474 per game
2008 - 14th - 35,877 per game
2009 - 14th - 33,144 per game
2010 - 6th - 37,084 per game

That's a 3yr rebuild and turn around from being just short of facing the OOFTIT's in a GF in 2006 (and most likely a premiership) to back in the race for a premiership in 2010. Over that time crowds dropped a little but the club had many die hards by this point who stuck by through the tough times.

I'm unsure what our average crowd will be this season (our last few attendances have been 27,050, 30,080, 38,722 in a home derby full of OOFTIT's and 30,541) but It will almost certainly be very low again this weekend after dropping to 31,416 per game last season as we floundered.

It's a pretty fair indication of the supporters and fans lack of faith in those in charge but based on past interactions with those who run our club, I don't think they care. That we could be 10yrs further down the track and have less fans showing up and even worse results on the field is a far cry from where we should be.

A good coach should build the team bit by bit from when he start . That is how it should be done .

And good recruits are brought in by good recruiting . playing favourites doesn't always work .

I have played footy all my life and have a fair idea of the way the game is going and how it works ,

at the moment what we are doing seams a bit wrong . IMO.

If we’re being honest Biz, you don’t really ask questions on why things are going wrong it’s more a case of you questioning how you can stick the knives into Lyon.

And in fairness to Jezza, being relentlessly critical and negative is no more a rational examination than being relentlessly optimistic, it just comes with more wear and tear.

Okay, I'll ask. Why do you think things are going wrong ROTV? Why are crowds falling?

Don't know, but are slime crowds falling too?

I'd be guessing at....
i. poor results
ii. entry and associated cost
iii. boring game style
iv. unfremantling of Fremantle.

Interesting that the crowds have dropped off since we've been Steved
