After the Brisbane debacle I asked who were we actually better than, and I think North Melbourne was basically the answer.

Sure, we can expect some improvement next year, but who will we be better than? Maybe North Melbourne.

Meanwhile Ross' brand is being smashed and we'll never get rid of him. We are locked into a doomsday scenario.

Well the only team that wasn't competitive besides us on the weekend was GC and they had pretty good reasons. Even so they still lost by under 60 pts, not over 100.

If you're comparing the Suns and reckon they're better than us, we must be rubbish. Here's the thing, a balanced argument would be that we're better than 4 teams that are below us and considerably worse that 13 teams above us on the ladder. From all accounts most think we've gone backwards not only with Ross in charge but with our recruiting. This season more than any while we've been smashed against the top 2 juggernauts of the AFL ( Brisbane was an anomaly), we've beaten Rich ( at the G), Melb ( at the G), Dogs and Essendon who are all finals contenders. At the start of the season, no one would have backed Freo in those games. That's a positive in my books.

Jezza, my recollection, and when I say recollection I mean that I looked it up, is that at the start of the season you were referring to 2016 as an outlier and expected us to make the 8 this year.

So you probably did expect us to Win a couple of games at the MCG.

Back on page three of this post Jezza you said you've never been more protective of this footy club than you are now.

It actually seems to me that you're incredibly protective of the board, definitely the coach and any mention of our poor game plan and that we were were 2016 minor premiers. What does that count for when you look at the way we finished the season and the finals.

Nobody here is overly critical of the players, particularly the youngsters, but feel that we have the right to question our coach and his tactics judging by the results we're getting with him in control.

You keep talking about us being above GC, etc. We're only two games above them and they still have a better percentage even with all their troubles. In fact everyone below us has a better percentage except Brisbane who are only two and a half percent behind us.

So something is obviously wrong. if it's not the players which we don't think it is, what is it if it's not the coach and/or his game plan.

Correct Shane, I did expect a finals berth this year. I'm disappointed but not disillusioned. I think we've got enough 'A' graders in our side to play finals but perhaps Sandi's injury was the last straw. Though there are plenty of teams that's had injury crisis. But we're not the worst team in the AFL as some have eluded to, in fact we're building nicely.
