There are many things that amateurs like us can pick up. Some of us play different ball sports, which require the same basics of ball movement, regardless. I see more strategic nous on here, than I've ever seen executed at Freo, by professionals.
In my own teams' case, many of our problems are related to being over 45, unfit, lacking skills in areas, and not playing full-time. We accept that and work on the things we can work on. And yes, we run till we drop and rotate heavily too.
It's taken us to finals in our first year, most of us not even having played the game before, against teams that have been together for years. I don't know if it's a great analogy, but it does show what is possible, if you work hard on strategy and are flexible enough to adapt to what the other team are good at.
Why is it so hard to see that at a pro football club?
