What about the fact that Dangerfield's ex-teammate, Jimmy Bartel, is a member (and seemingly the most outspoken one at that) of the MRP? I'm sure Bartel will recuse himself though.
After Round 15 the MRP assessed McCarthy's tackle on Sam Gilbert as 'careless conduct with high impact to the head,' which drew an initial three-match penalty, reduced to two with a guilty plea. Although Gilbert missed the rest of the game, he played the following week - so there is nothing to distinguish the 'high impact to the head' part, because Kreuzer also missed the rest of the game. There is also nothing to distinguish Dangerfield's and McCarthy's conduct in the two incidents.
In a fair and unbiased competition, there is no way that Dangerfield gets off.
Also though in a fair and unbiased competition, the medal at the end of the season would probably be named after someone who actually played in the national competition.
