Think there may be a footballer after all under that crazy mop of hair...yes, still a bit fumbly occasionally, but with each passing game, there appears to be more sureness in what he's doing, and there were also several moments tonight where he used his athleticism to attack the ball and affect the contest. Probably one of the very few positives that we can take from the night...

I thought he showed signs of getting comfortable with the speed and pressure of the AFL game. Going back to Peel would be a retrograde step, and I think hes not far from playing a breakout game.
His best game tonight, and I'd hate to see him replaced by someone with no upside..ie Sheriden or Sutcliffe...

The thing that ticked me off was how he had his confidence destroyed by that joke of a free against him in a marking contest. The next few contests he went at unsure of what he could do and looked insipid. Someone must have geed him up because he did get back into it towards the end. (I am not blaming Logue for this, just to be clear.)

Very close to a "break out game" but I think very soon that will happen and some people on the website are gonna say "Wow.....got that one a bit wrong." This kid has swingman /big bodied midfielder written all over him, and I think we saw a bit of the latter last night, when he was given a bit more freedom in the 2nd half. He is going to be a player. Give him another 20 games and he's gonna be one of the first picked each week.

And yes , Gero, Spur is not keeping anyone out of the team. He keeps giving 120% each week, and is in our best 22 for sure. Hes not a long termer, but theres others that go before him.

That was clearly a free kick. His intent was to remove his opponent from the contest. Trying to mark it was a second action.

But he was the only player all night who made body contact with his opponent in a marking contest. Even Ballantyne seems to have forgotten how to beat his man. Everyone just let their opponent catch up to them and jump over the top.

His poor execution of it and everyone elses lack suggests they don't spend enough time being coached in some of the basics. Get Pav down there to remind them how it's done.

I've been thinking about Ballas....is he gone, or is he doing a James Clement and trying to get the hell out the place. ??
Wanted to leave last year but couldn't. Contract's now up, not doing much to earn another purple one. Appears disinterested.
It is sad to see him go out like this if he is "gone" ... but something tells me he's "controlling " his performance....
Don't think he's worth another year based on the last 4 games....
