Would it be in Tab's best interest to be selected for our next match, given that it's against GWS at Spotless Stadium, and based on our current form we could be in for another hiding? Reckon it would do more harm than good to his confidence if we do end up getting smashed, and you probably won't be able to wipe Roly's "I-told-you-so" smug look off his face...almost prefer to play him in the last 4 games after that and see what he's got to offer..

Irrespective of Tab's form, what actual role would he play in the crapola 'game plan' - and i use that term hesitantly - that we have.
What use would a true forward have in the style of play that we exhibit. ?

I am not up to watching presser tonight but if that is what Lyon has said then I am bamboozled as to what he needs to do. From what I saw was close to best on ground working forward and in the ruck, covered the ground, contested, worked hard and presented. STRANGE.

Listened to Ross and seeemed to be more poking at Journos rather than personally having a crack at Taberner. What I would like to have heard him say was, "the style of player that Taberner is, I would not destroy his career by playing him in our forward line in front of what we are presenting at the moment. May be worth selecting once we can start delivering the ball in a way that a forward has legitimate chance of success."
Nothing surer than if Taberner plays tonight the cries would be substantial for his head.

Actually, Brennan Cox would have been the best backup option for Darcy. But we know why Cox wasn't selected. Players have a team rule, they live by it, don't flout it. Don't consume alcohol on a 6-day break. Like with Blakely, which was also a player-driven sanction, its best to learn now, rather than later.

MR....I reckon its wrong to say we have a half forward line when all those that are in the half forward line (and forward line) are down in the back half for 80% of the game. That is the issue that RoLy ball demands.
I sat in block 109 last night virtually on the 50 m line. When we were kicking to the Subi end, there was at least "half the field" free for at least 85% of both those quarters. (They were all down Hawthorns end.)
There is no half forward line (or importantly ) when the comes out of the backline...THATS the problem.
I wonder what good a fellow like Tabs would be in those conditions?
We break down at the half forward "position", because we are constantly waiting for someone to run on forward.
What I should last night was a boring spectacle, - a horrible thing to watch - and I don't think Tabs would have added to that game at all. Whilst we are playing that style a lead up forward is totally wasted.
The bigger issue that RoLy is gonna face, is "bums on seats", because I think crowds are going to start dwindling , the longer he keeps playing this way.
Clubs dont like empty stadiums, and I think that is the only think that is going to enforce change upon our coach and his mindless structure.

How is it then that I see opposition players marking across half back, our half forward, with a couple of Freo players within 10 meters of them. But not going for the mark. I'm sick of hearing the same old story of how we have no-one in our forward line, ever. We do have them there, and at times they all are at the other end. But NOT all game, and, All teams play with this structure now.

Not when the ball is coming back, they are not. And they certainly didnt last night.!
And if all teams do it - and I am sure you are right - then,

1) the AFL has a rather large problem with the "spectacle"of the game, and there is a desperate need for some rule changes.

2) It needs one team to do something differently to break it down. Please can that team be us?, and why, why, why cant we plonk someone forward of the ball, when its in our back half!!

Moreover, I dont think ALL teams do it. They do it when they are playing us ..but against othe oppositions not plating RoLyball, I dont see Tom Hawkins or Joe Daniher,or ben Brown or Tex Walker or Jeremy Cameron/ Patton leaving the forward 50 much.
Dangerfield didnt last week against last nights opoosition, and kicked 5
