I don't agree.

We lack a forward structure. We lack a tall forward. We lack scoring potential and we are losing games through that lack.

Keeping a tall marking forward at Peel and losing games at AFL level because 'he needs to earn his place more' is verging on insane, particularly when we select guys who do less, show less and try less. Apparently if you go missing for 90% of a game yet kick a winning goal, you'll get talked up by the coach.

We have a burning need. Tabs fills that need. Let's leave him at Peel, right?

If anyone thinks list management and our recruiters have ruined our chances of winning a premiership only needs to look at Cletus's analysis. And the draft is also a lottery. The only sure thing is trading in quality. To put it simply, age demographic will play a big part in retention and trading. But I would say if Mitch McGovern isn't signed up in the next 2 months then TAB's is in the crosshairs. Will he be coming to Freo, you bet.

Absolutely understand your POV, Yeti. .... I'm not really worried about short term....I'm thinking long term, but I know you'll counter that with the fact that the boy is ruined by not getting a go after 2 decent WAFL games. Goes to strength of character, I guess. What I do know, is that he probably has only one more shot at the Big Time for us, so when he gets in, he's got to make it count.
Imagine another 3-4 game stint where he struggles. Not only is he then out our door...hes probably on the AFL scrapheap. So....(and you should know I believe he has far greater potential than Kersten) we've just got to make sure he is absolutely confident with his game, and believes he can dominate ANY opponent. Not sure 2 good WAFL games does that, but 4 or 5 in a row, starts getting him in that frame of mind.

Back to recruits.....Jezza wants Mitch Mcgovern, and maybe Brandon Matera is interested in coming back. ? If we could get Alir Alir back, well....that wouldnt be a bad trio for starters, would it??

I get what you say, Cletus but I don't agree.

We are here to play football not decide whether a guy has sufficient character to make Roly happy. If we want to win, then we play the guys that provide the best return. If Roly wants to play his stupid 'expectations' bull**** that he did with Luke Ball, then he can do it elsewhere.

Its a footy club not a finishing school.

You might have a point if he was drugging it up with bikie mates but it isn't the case.

Typical Roly, if he doesn't like a guy, we get loads of bull about 'expectations'. My expectations are simple, we try to win football games

Maybe hes not trying to win... ? Would. explain a fair few things....The optimistic press conference, the lack of a forward structure, the delayed selection of youth, playing a dud forward, ...not picking a foward who's in great WAFL form...?

And despite there being only 45% chance of picking a "good 'un" at the draft, the higher your pick, the more you can do with it.

Across rounds 9 - 11 Taberner touched it 20 times. He's 199cm and nearly 100kg. He doesn't impact the game anywhere as much as he needs to and has no physicality. I suspect he got told after these 3 games to go back to Peel for a while and impact the game. I can understand why he might not be an automatic 'in' off the back of a 5 or 6 goal haul at Peel.

You are correct.

Tabs got 5 disposals in round 9, 7 disposals in round 10 and 8 disposals in round 11 for a total of 20.
Kersten got 10 disposals in round 9, 8 disposals in round 10 and 4 disposals in round 11 for a total of 22.

If you are telling me that 2 disposals over 3 games is the difference between getting picked and getting dropped, I'd say you were bats*** crazy.

A couple more stats for your viewing pleasure:

Tabs has a 1.6 goals per game average at 89&% scoring accuracy
Kersten has a 1.1 goals per game average at 55% scoring accuracy

Either way you look at things, the preferencing of Kersten over Tabs by Roly simply does not make sense

Yeti, it might make sense if someone "important" at the club had a finger in getting Kersten, and didn't want to look like they got it wrong. Others have mentioned it, but I'd be tempted to try Kersten as a defender.
