The kid has stuffed up , however the "send him to Peel for the rest of the season" comments are completely out of proportion.

The leadership group ( if there doing there job properly) will make sure he knows how hard he is going to have to work to get respect back.

Sure he will cop the week and come back even better.

Agreed. What 20 year old hasn't tried to sneak out of work with a crappy, paper- thin excuse that they think no one has ever used before? Give the kid a break.

Are they kids or professional sportsmen? They're doing a different job to most of us, with different goals, different money and big expectations. They don't get to pull the same crap we did, and they know it.

If the thought of having to face Fyfe and the seniors after this doesn't get him sort his priorities, he doesn't deserve to be playing football for a living.

Statement just released by the player, "I wish to apologise for my actions that led to me being suspended by the leadership group for this week's game against St Kilda. I now recognize my actions constitute a major breach of trust within the playing group, a trust I am determined to win back. I have let myself, my team mates, our supporters (who are the best in the league), my family and my country down. Furthermore, I realise my actions undermine our faith in democracy, more specifically the westminister system under a constitutional monarcy. To that end I would like to thank Pollyanna and Chris Bond for their strong leadership in condeming my actions and look forward to working with them at Peel till I am traded to Gold Coast at seasons end."

To think that on your complete list you don't have someone who goes off track at some stage is crazy. Every club would be the same.

I like most of you probably did some bloody stupid things when I was 20. The trouble is what comes with the territory here is that you're in the public eye.

He's copping more flak here than Johnson did over his public indiscretion at the start of the year and he's a senior player who has been in the leadership group and now twice in trouble with the law.

Hopefully this will be a learning experience and he'll move on and make the right adjustments.

It was a stupid thing for Connor to do....but it 'll be his "Walters moment". He'll be back, and better for it, and we'll be better for it..
I suspect Peel will have a few good games over the coming weeks. Whats the record for possessions in a WAFL match?? ...I reckon that mark is just about to be pushed....

Give him 1 game at Peel to keep the Stalinists happy, then get him back where he can do some damage.

Fair enough - if I was his teammate:

* Every single time Connor failed to hit me with a handball I would think his mind was on the Yalingup break - every time he got me properly in the guts with one I would reckon it was despite having his head on the Yalingup break.
* Every single time Connor positioned himself on the field that made things harder for me I would think his mind was on the Yalingup break - every time he jagged a miraculous goal, burst through a pack (or whatever) I would reckon it was despite having his head on the Yalingup break.
* If I was in a tough spot with the ball in a game I would try to give it out to anyone but Connor - if Connor was having a tough time I'd leave him to it.
* Every single time Connor said he was sore, sick or injured I would suspect he was faking it - every time he looked to be going ok I would anticipate him being about to fake an illness.
* If I was sitting through some turgid strategy meeting listening to all sorts of RoLy hyperbole and corporate baloney I would wonder why some blokes like Connor could sneak out of being there too.

...and on and on and on it goes. In fact, I'm not sure what Connor could do that would make me think differently.

But if I was a member/seat renter and I was watching Brady Grey busting his knackers to fill a spot in the back line (and reinjuring his hammy), or Lachie Neale getting pulverised in the middle without help, or Johnno getting stuck holding the ball because he couldn't kick it to someone on the wing, and we end up dropping 4 pts to a team that we should've easily beaten at home (as a result) I would automatically think:

* This is the result of one arse-clown thinking he didn't need to sit through a game-day strategy meeting.

But if that doesn't happen and we have a whopping good game and obliterate RoLy's former team on Sunday I would think:

* There, we don't need that arse-clown after all - trade him out or let him burn up the WAFL with all the wannabes (what do I care). Back to Bunners mate and all the best.

Good surf, bad surf - it's winter, it's cold and there's plenty of great whites on the move leading up to feeding time down there. Good prep or bad prep for a Sunday game? What do I know - tell you what, it's probably more risky than having a groove at a music festival.

The funny thing is, I don't find it funny at all - because it can't be resolved. If Connor apologised to me I would just think it was baloney.

The boy stuffed up. His actions will need to speak for him, because as Polly says, words mean nothing.
