Our key forwards are the big concern. Getting nothing from Kersten and McCarthy and trying to make a forward out of a guy who we played in the backline all year at Peel, in Cox.
Tabener has had chances and we've got nothing else.

3 marks inside 50 for the whole game to their 12.

Every one of the new guys showed signs, once they come to grips with the pace of the game looks promising. Umps were bad, cue in RM. Holding the ball and man interpreted differently all day.

Our biggest problem is a lack of good high marking players in both our forward and back line(except Hamling ).
This is killing us and must be remedied if we are to go further. Maybe some younger guys will develop but right now it is our Achilles heel. Egurls lost but not because of their great high markers- more their lack of ticker.

McCarthy and Kersten have been picked all year and have basically shown very little. We had a functioning forward line with Tabs playing but after 3 games in the wet where our midfield were horribly smashed, Tabs was the chosen goat.

Never mind that McCarthy and Kersten were equally as poor, Tabs was shown the door to address our poor midfield.

Guess what, McCarthy and Kersten are still showing nothing where Tabs has been close to BOG at Peel.

Whats the the betting neither McCarthy or Kersten gets dropped all year?

I'll cut McCarthy some some slack, he's been presenting and he's missed an entire year. Not so for Kersten. He should be swapped out for Tabs and go back to Peel.

Not saying Tabs is any worse Yeti, just that our cupboard is extremely bare when it comes to a big man that can take a mark.
I know that Tabs was no worse than those two but he hasn't really done anything since going back to Peel either.
As I said, we've got few decent marking options.
I'd give Darcy a go up there while Sandi rucks.

Its a damned conundrum alright....!
But none of it helped by the "tactic" of bombing the ball in....and when your forwards need confidence , i have no idea why we do this and not get them to lead up to an easy ball. Its crazy!
Having said that, Tabs cpuld be an answer, but he needs to be BOG several times before he comes back in.
We have to have patience with Mcarthy, its there...but its going to take time to extract it. But we should be using him differently to what we are.
Kersten , however, is maybe a different kettle of fish. Think we all expected more from a bloke on his second chance. He's just played his 50th game...cue the Leigh Matthews theory.... At the moment, I think its pretty clear to see what we have got....

I disagree again, CA.

We have the cattle, we don't have a functioning game plan that makes the best use of them.

McCarthy is normally a reasonable mark but has been off this season for obvious reasons. Tabs can also mark in spite of the naysayers on here. So can Kersten although he hides it well.

Ballas, Walters, Crozier and Fyfe can all mark in the forward line.

So we have a game plan that has little or no forward structure and we bomb it it to where the opposition has a plus one in defence. McGovern anybody?

We need a coach who can deal with what we have, develop a forward structure and controlled delivery to leading forwards. Thats what we need and that what we lack. Its not new. We've known this for several years but havent addressed this for some reason. Oh yeah, Roly!

Cued in DBTS, some interesting calls. The 2 things that killed our momentum however were the goal taken off us when Ballas was dragged to the ground by a cat, and the fact the ball bounced straight up instead of end for end when Ballas had that long shot. That said however, we were still a chance too the last second of the game.

Does anyone know why Geelong cut back so severely on their rotations?? I thought it nearly cost them the game, and why did the camera keep going to some Hollywood star sitting on their bench?
