What worries me is that who's going to look at the reports is Bond and he's the architect of all this

It's going to get worse before it gets better. And I don't mean just this season, it could potentially be 3+ years before we are a half decent team.

Backline- Johnson clearly our best player. However he is a year or two away from retirement. Hamling has been serviceable but that's about it. Spurr, Sutcliffe and Ibbotson are finished. I have my doubts about Hughes but time will tell. We have no idea if Cox, Logue, Ryan will make it. So going forward we have one spot filled by a definite afl player. Yet our head of list management chose a midfielder instead of a ready made big backman in Jake Lever, who is now almost first picked at Adelaide.

Forwards- Another train wreck. McCarthy looks promising but is fumbling all the time and wants to sneak around the back for easy goals. He's not Eddie Betts but at least he presents. Kersten I don't think is an afl player. He has kicked a few goals but disappears most of the game. Taberner has played fifty games and is not cutting it. Walters is good, but is having to play in the middle because we are desperate. When he does play forward he isn't kicking enough goals. Crozier I find hugely disappointing. He has played enough games to be far better than what he is but we still don't know if he is up to afl standard. He flatters to deceive by playing about one good game a month.
So I have McCarthy and Walters as definite afl standard and that's it.

Middle- huge problems in the ruck. Without Sandi we have no one. At the moment I think we would be better served not playing a specialist ruckman. Griffin is done. Clarke is hopeless and forever injured. Who knows if Darcy can play because Lyon keeps picking Griffin. On the ball we look okay. Neale and Fyfe are good but disposal is average. Brad Hill and Blakely have been our shining lights so far. Weller looks good. Tucker hasn't deserved his spot but must be persisted with. Mundy has fallen in a hole.

The overriding problem is skill level- it is abysmal. Lyon needs to realise that sheer will and desperation will only get you so far. It's not a substitute for a game plan. I am increasingly of the opinion that the players that will bring this club success are yet to be drafted and we face a fair while towards the bottom of the ladder. As the person in charge of the list Chris Bond should fall on his sword. The best facilities in the world won't mean a thing if you have no idea how to recruit. In particular, our failure to be able to draft decent talls and forwards has killed us over the years. West Coast kill us in this area. Bond needs to take responsibility for the state of the list.

The skill level and structure is an ongoing issue. We are missing some KKP in areas.

But to say most of the squad is crap is lazy journalism and overtly negative. Pot-shots at Neale and Fyfe? Give me a break.

To simple to just say forwards, will be interesting to see how good Eagles forwards are without Kennedy looked pretty suspect last week. We have been getting smashed with no ability to win the ball and move it. A lot of this comes down to our much vaunted mids.

Maybe some things not to agree with there Drubbing but i don't think it was a pot shot at Neale and Fyfe. Said their disposal let them down which I think is pretty spot on. Of course they're not alone there.

I am just a fan like everyone else here drubbing and not a journalist. Fyfe and Neale are my favourite players but to me they lack the disposal quality of ,say, Steven Hill and Mundy. But that's okay because not everyone can be elite at everything and they make up for it in other areas.
But I stand by my comment that our squad in general is poor. Results this year have largely borne this out where we have fallen over the line in a couple of games despite playing poorly for large chunks of it (North, Carlton). We were good against the Bulldogs, Richmond and okay for a fair bit against Melbourne. We have been largely thrashed in other games.
My overriding point was that out list is very unskilled and may face a few years in the wilderness. Also, someone needs to fire Chris Bond.

We've all been saying that about Bond for years. It's clear they think he's one of the Top Men, and won't be going anywhere.

Until FFC include some coaching duds in the "rebuild", its all marketing BS.

I thought it would be pretty near impossible for anything to push that thrilling last few seconds win against Richmond out of the forefront of my memory. But getting dakked by one-win Brisbane really sealed the deal. Wow, it was like we turned into the North Freo under 12's playing against the Voss/Black/Acker/Scott twins GF three peat team.

If they get a priority selection at this year's draft can we get one too (after that game)?

Ask yourself which players are playing anywhere near their best.
Answer: probably only Weller and Blakely. Every one else can and has played better.
Bond may be responsible for lots of things including some recruiting errors but this performance today is pure and simply poor coaching.

No run, no fun, no flair, no confidence, no instinct, no energy, no gameplan, multiple free kicks against, 50 m penalties, total confusion. Thats coaching department.

Why are the new guys, the ones still playing on instinct and with a bit of flair and the older guys looking like they are ready for retirement?

Goodie is spot on, our team just is rather crap right now. Let's not kid ourselves, we should be bottom 4. If not for numerous very close wins on the backs of our A graders we would be. We just lost to the last placed team and didn't give a yelp. It's going to take a bit more time but I hope they clean out this list as a lot are C graders at best and will not be part of any finals bound team. The likes of Sutcliffe, Sheridan & Crozier offer very little but take up spots. Happy to give cam mac a little time but kersten looks abysmal. Our veterans are our best players, our middle tier are below the required level and our kids are still developing. Massive clean out coming at years end hopefully. Overall grade D
