Healey is ok but he suffers from the usual commentators' groupthink affliction. Carlton came out pumped up and we fell behind in the first quarter: our execution was a bit weak, we didn't adjust to conditions, and it cost us. I thought we played poorly, but we actually weren't far behind. We made up the deficit in the second quarter with a bit more application and a few things going our way.
During Q1 the commentators must have thought their dreams had come true. Today is a cruise. No scratching around for something interesting to say. It was thanks-for-the-story-guys, Lets Slag Freo. So we were complete crap. No one stopped for one second to consider that a first quarter four goal deficit is a first quarter four goal deficit with three quarters to come.
The rest followed like clockwork. When we came back as would be reasonably expected, they suddenly had to justify their previous clueless self-serving narrative. We we complete crap but saved by Carlton injuries.
It's more a case of group stupidity followed by face-saving, than actual disrespect.
