Fyfe is just doing the right thing by the club and dropping his market value. Few more kicks like that and he'll save us million or two

Don't want to appear soft-headed here, but I reckon Ibbo has more than earned enough respect from us over the years for us to treat him with a bit more of it now.

First that means giving him every chance to run himself back into form. If it means he needs to go back to Peel to find it, let's be respectful and positive about it. If, indeed, the game has passed him by, let's remember the 176 games he's played in the purple and how good so many of them have been, and treat him accordingly.

Zorro I don't think we are being disrespectful of Ibbotson and his contribution to the club, but based on his current form this season he should have been #7 to be dropped after the week 2 massacre from Port. With Cox putting in some good form for Peel, he is banging on Ibbo's door, likewise Luke Ryan on Sutcliffes. Ryan is a true half back player, Sutcliffe is a midfielder trying to play back line.

Ballas isn't a shoe in straight away. His first match back wasn't outstanding and there is a WAFL bye this week. Few more weeks in the wafl.

Spurr to Betts.

That's fine, timmeh. It's the tone of some of the posts about him that I don't like. Ibbo may have to go - for form or forever - but he is not a crab and should be shown respect (even if he's shown the door as well). That's all.

Ibbo has been a great servant, like Suban has. But on Form you'd have to say it is a fair run at 9 weeks to get your act together. MJ has got it together. Ibbo has not. Time for a rest, Gee up or what ever it is to get him fired up again. There was times on Sunday where he did not want to be there and it showed. Spur is in the same boat. Off to the two's. Give Young Ryan a lick of the stick and bring in Big bad Sam. Send in Ballas for Pearce and we should have a ripper game.

I'd be sad to see Ibbo go. He has been a good player for many years and I reckon he still is. Ok he makes some mistakes generally under pressure but all players do – its just that they look worse in the backline. We've got some good talent coming through Peel and I'll be as happy as anyone to see some get a game soon. If the need arose I wouldn't mind seeing Ibbo play elsewhere up the field. I think he could float forward and take a grab under pressure and poke it through the big ones. We've got a half reasonable squad and team work and flow all over the ground. Right now things are looking peachy but we are not quite there yet.

Ibbo's fine - just fast track in a mistress for him (or something). With the other suggestions:

No to dropping Brady or Danyellerin Pearce - it's the Indigenous Round next weekend and they stay in the side. Period. AND, not that I'm a medico or anything, I'd bring Harley Bennell into the side - even if he bench warms for half the game. If there was ever a game to put all of his attention back towards footy, this is it.

Ballas needs to sit in the corner for a little while longer for even considering morphing into a budgie .
However with Walters doing so well in the middle and with the window being ever so slightly ajar to play finals we may be able to fit him in at some stage .
Spurry he’s been alright .. mind you I did note against Melbourne , Garlett seemed to have time to knit a jumper while running rings around him . Weller may be a better fit speedwise for Eddie.
With Ibbo I’d most probably stick with him for the crows .

I think Ibbotson has been slowly improving as the season wears on, admittedly from a pretty low base. Spurr and Sutcliffe are playing fine. Grey's stats are low but he is doing enough, and is a human cannon ball. Even Pearce has performed since coming back so I am unsure who would make way for anyone really. Ballantyne has to do more than 13 touches and a couple of goals in a thrashing of Perth. I think at the moment the next in line might be Ryan as a mature age recruit with a track record in the vfl.

I'm prone to the odd moment of reflection and the sliding door moments of football.

My mind often returns to the what ifs of the 2013 GF

If Ibbo wasn't injured, he would have got first crack at Gunston and we would have won. No way he gives up 4 when he was in AA mode. Easton Wood (despite his medal and captaincy) is a poor mans Ibbo who was doing it first without the accolades.

In regard to Hughes, that kid has been super solid. Part of his appeal is that he has been nearly invisible, ie. not drawing attention to himself with clangers or mistakes. The best kind of defender: dependable, dour, and some other d words.
