Was switching channels last night and caught Sam Newman making some comments around the ineptitude of the Umpires that were involved. Now not what you would normally expect from Sammy, he actually accused the umpire who pinged Crozier which led to the Richmond entry from which they scored their last goal.
Showed vision from above that showed the Richmond player scragging Crozier and stopping his leads as Grey was looking for options.
Sam asked a couple of simple question.
1) Why would a forward be transgressing the rules, with so little time left and having control.
2) Why an umpire that is 10-15 metres from the contest refused to pay a free kick to the player being held ( Crozier ).
3) If as the Umpire stated "you hit him high", why was there no report laid and no review by MRP
I have said this a number of times before, we are not respected by the Umpires.
That is why we continually get poor decisions.
The board needs to load up the Fines Coffer and unleash Ross Lyon.
Will cause any number of retaliatory strikes by the umpires, but if they keep getting called out on them
eventually they will get sick of being scrutinised and will call a fair game.
I think we can all agree, all we want is a fair call.

I saw that on the Footy Show. Probably the one and only time I've ever agreed with Sam Newman. The segment had video from behind the goals which clearly show the Richmond player getting away with murder - with the ump so close!! - the ump responded to the Crozier response, but in fact, the free kick should have been paid to Crozier. That ump couldn't have missed the initial Richmond free kick, but he did!

Continuing on RM's line of thinking a lot of people should be praised, Son Son and Fyfe if they were in the middle would probably draw the top 2 mids leaving the third best Dusty for Lachie. Son Son and Fyfe exited stage right. Sandi was always going left and got 2 bights of the cherry. The half forwards all strolled out of the corridor and left the room for Lachie. The tall forwards led away from The Mundy spot, all over red rover.

The work the coaches must have put in should also be acknowledged.

Jimbo, Ross could sign up Kim Ul whatsisname to nuke each and every umpire in the AwFL and we still could not get treated any worse than we are, Snoop you are kidding aren't you. Sure we are getting more free kicks, but as we saw on the weekend, the opposition know what they can get away with so the 2 crozier frees that were missed, the 4 or 5 not paid to Walters, the holding the ball kicks we haven't been paid are all still making a win for us a win against the odds.

ROTV, all those wins are good wins in tight games, it doesn't matter whether you come from behind, or give up a 5 goal lead, what matters is that you win. We ARE winning.

Nobody, I believe, has mentioned Kersten getting shirtfronted and winded while trying to take a mark, the ball actually on his chest, by a guy running the opposite direction. Atrocious umpiring and spectacularly blind to not pay that too.

We won't be satisfied until:
i. Umpires not only give us the free kicks we deserve, but give us all the ones we don't
ii. We acknowledge coaches don't do anything, and AFL games are in fact random chaos acts created by naturally talented players astutely selected by experts (or random chance at our club). Game tactics don't exist

Come on Snoop, get real. About 60 to 70% of the free kicks that are there would be good, most teams get that. Even 50% of the frees that are there in the forward line would be a gamebreaker for us. See the notes on Kersten above, he was flattened off the ball while trying to lead twice as well as the above mentioned.

How many holding the ball frees get paid to our opponents but not to Freo every week? Count them if you have access to a replay of this seasons games. Also take note of the number of times Hill, Neale and Fyfe are illegally dealt to while and after delivering the ball.

On 1 occasion on Sunday Neale was flattened after getting the ball downfield, and Freo had an advantage running towards goal. Not only was advantage pulled back, but the free was taken back to Neale, not paid 40mt downfield as it should have been.

I could wear my keyboard out with these examples, but some people like to believe the AwFL line that umpiring is fair and equitable. It is not, and Freo are not the only team that cops it. We just seem to get it every week.
