Do we have to blame the umpires every bloody time we lose to that mob? Does it hurt too much to admit we got beaten because the enemy are a better team?
Maybe not better for much longer, but certainly right now. On paper we have better cattle in the middle, but we're hopelessly outclassed by their backline and forward line and that's why we lost tonight. They also used the ball better. How many times did we stop, pass sideways, pass backwards and eventually turn it over? They looked comfortable all night, and I honestly think the only reason we didn't get smashed by three figures is that they took their foot off the gas a little after quarter time. They knew and we knew the game was over already by that stage. We were never going to make a comeback against that backline with our forward line.
If they had a bit more mongrel about them they would have completely finished us off, and it's that lack of ruthlessness that ensures their premiership window will pass them by.
In the return derby we need to find a way to make our midfield count, and find a better route to goal than kick and hope.
