Our pace should be a factor as long as we get the ball - Mitchell might be slow but he knows how to get the ball and use it - a big job for Blakely but he looks ready for it! Thought Pearce would be a shoe in but Balic is solid and has more mongrel about him which should stand him in good stead in a Derby so fair choice.

Cam and Shane will have their work cut out for them. Barass and McGovern know how to mark (as opposed to clunk). Bombing the ball in long will not pay dividends. At best if freo can make a contest and brings the ball to ground that would be a good result from long bombs. Speed on the other hand, freo should run them off their legs.

I'm glad Ross has finally seen the light and hasn't resorted to his trusted favourites, to replace Hilly, as he would have earlier in the season or seasons past. It looks like he finally realises youth is the way to go. Kudos to him for not falling back into the old methods. Rapt for Balic too. This will give him a great amount of confidence, knowing that Ross has backed him in over established players.
