I'd like to propose a new law, although we probably need to hold a referendum on, that the Australian national anthem can only ever be sung at sporting events by Kirsten Hobbs.

That's Able Seaman Kirsten Hobbs to you. I agree, wonderful performance of both the NZ and Australian national anthems at the MCG before the Pies vs. Bombers game today.

Do we need to have a discussion about the Bugle players? Or is the bugle a no fly zone?

For starters, a trumpet is not a bugle, South Fremantle.

It may have even been a cornet but it wasn't a bugle.

Wasn't Julie Anthony available? She always chips in at big events even though I never see her.

The 90+ year old guy who read the Ode of Remembrance at the Len Hall game also did a cracker of a job. I'm 30 + years younger, and wouldn't have given him a run for his money.

I don't know, he inadvertently tried to cut off the moment of silence at 2 seconds, before realising he had to wait for it to end. Polly didn't even have time to hit start on his stopwatch!

We had the best bugle player at our Len Hall game - everyone else used a trumpet (which is kind of like cheating) and they squeaked out more than a few sour notes, but our bloke really let an emotional ripper out.
