Pedantry implies a slavish devotion to rules. There's no rule that respect (to the ANZACs or otherwise) must be meted out in one minute increments. Maybe you just like round numbers?
I'd rather people use 36 seconds in quiet reflection of the sacrifices of others than counting seconds to ensure sufficient respect is paid at a footy game.
As for the lack of tradition, there's no indication respect for ANZAC day is diminishing. In fact, I'd say it's the opposite is true. Dawn Service attendances are higher than they have ever been, for example.
Honour the vets around the ground, play the bugle, take a moment for quiet reflection, play the anthem, and bounce the ball.
