Is it too early to say I told you so?
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Biz, the way the game was played, I thought all the Blues debutants had great games. SPS debut was eye catching. Although, I don't know whether he'd get a game for Freo had they recruited him. The Blues need a player like him, we've got an abundance of them.

I think he already looks a class above a lot of our abundances.

Unlike Carlton to play a young player before he is ready. Hope it doesnt set him back too far.
He seemed lost later in the game

They played Cripps early and he didn't struggle, in fact he gathered more clearances than anyone in AFL history. Why not give youngsters a game early on particularly if you're looking to build a team. Yeah, they're going to struggle this year but Carlton had some young players showing good signs and talent last night.

As someone mentioned earlier, if you're drafted by Fremantle you're guaranteed not to get a game early in your career not matter how well you're playing in the WAFL. Can't remember the last young player for us bursting onto the scene.
Always better apparently to stick with known talent like Dawson.

SPS did look lost and ran out of legs after half time. Powell Pepper might do the same. You can gift games to 18 year olds or they get a game on form. Not many have thrived. Carlton's recruiting leaves them with little wriggle room. Our young kids in Sutcliffe, Neale, Crozier, Sheridan, Langdon Weller, Blakely, Tabener are not top 10 picks to have given games early. They weren't gifted games. They earned theirs.

SPP=machine

and that's without the don't argue to Burgoyne, and the bump on Reiwoldt. If he was in docker colours we would be beside ourselves.

SPS should be good. But remember for trade comparison purposes, the question isn't whether SPS is good, but whether he is better than McCarthy, Logue and Darcy combined.

Putting guys like Sheridan Sutcliffe an Tabenet in the same category as SPS is like comparing Pavlich to Brendan Fewster.
Who should have got a game before him Jezza?

SPS is not going to save Carlton. When Melb picked Watts, they thought he'd be the saviour. If he was in Docker's colours, he'd probably have less of an impact because we've got plenty like him. I doubt if he'll be better than Bennell ( if he plays again). Good luck to SPS but he's not going to be your superstar as many are touting here.

Sutcliffe, Sheridan and Crozier are hardly kids. They're mid career fringe players who are holding back Weller, Tucker, Collins, Ballic et al. Admittedly Crozier finally showed promise at halfback last year but, of course, that meant he had to be moved back to a forward role.
