I am currently undertaking my PhD in Marketing and I am gathering data for my thesis. I am seeking participants to complete an online survey investigating online/offline activities of fans in West Australia AFL clubs. Numerous questions about "talking about the good ol' days" in the dockerland sections: They're all rusted ons who live in the past.
Numerous questions about how much you spend on merch : They don't buy much of our gear either.
Numerous questions about could you ever not support freo : They're not going anywhere anyway so we can continue to treat them the way we do.

That would be my very cynical response.

Edit:
Alternatively they could be building a case that dockerland is far more inclusive than the official club site and how has a club run by marketing gurus ended up in a position where a freelance fan site gets more "hits" than they do.

I can understand a PhD student making a few mistakes in a second language, but there's an academic overseeing this project, and you'd think they'd check the content of the survey. Apparently not.

Repetitive, pointless, meandering questions. Has the aim of these even been thought through? It's like a Hypen post in survey form.

Not surprising really, because such a survey is pointless. The FFC websites a corporate communications and marketing tool, not a chat forum. I'd no sooner go to FFC for a chat, than I would go to Coles to get a prostate check.

I'd fail this PhD at concept stage, but then I toe-cut at will.

I'm guessing that the various subtle differences in wording are to see which ones/combinations trigger more favourable responses and how they might sell things better.

I still can't believe there's a PhD in Marketing though! I think that's worth a survey on its own.
